It’s time for my 2012 NFL week 7 predictions and picks. As usual, the week 7 NFL schedule kicks off on Thursday. Candlestick Park plays host for the 49’ers hosting Seattle. Perhaps San Francisco is a little bit involved in that other sport right now–but the 49’ers have been nothing but terrific. I can’t imagine the Seattle offense will put too many points on the board in that hostile environment against a great defense. So the Seahawks, who’ve been decent defensively in their own right, would need to hold the 49’ers offense to a minimum. I don’t expect that to happen. San Francisco wins big 23-9. Frank Gore rumbles for 123 yards and a touchdown while the 49’ers defense returns a Russell Wilson interception for a score.
On to the Sunday games, Tennessee is at Buffalo. The Titans could potentially pull off an upset consider the Bills defense doesn’t really stop the running game. I still think the Bills will find a way to outscore the Titans in an ugly 24-17 win. Johnson breaks free for 89 yards and 1 score but it’s not enough for the Titans.
Washington travels to New York to face the Giants. Eli Manning cuts loose for 324 yards passing and 3 touchdowns in a 31-20 win. The Redskins offense produces 4 turnovers on the road against a stingy Giants defense.
New Orleans hits the road for a date at Tampa Bay. Can the Saints gather any momentum and turn the season around? I think the Saints offense is primed to have a huge game against a decent defense. Drew Brees throws 3 touchdown passes in the first half and finishes with 4 for the game. Brees tallies 356 yards passing in a 34-17 road win.
Dallas visits Carolina in an anything can happen game. It’s hard to speculate on which Carolina or Dallas team will show up. My heart says Cam Newton will put up big numbers but my gut says the Cowboys win going away 26-23. Tony Romo drives Dallas for the game winning drive with less than 2 minutes to go.
Baltimore visits Houston in another Sunday contest. The Texans put up a huge offensive output on the ground against the Ravens. Arian Foster and Ben Tate combine for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 23-17 win. Joe Flacco gets sacked 4 times and throws 2 interceptions.
Indianapolis hosts Cleveland in what should be a very winnable game for the Colts. The Browns though are putting up decent offensive numbers this season. This one could be a bit more interesting than people might anticipate. Colts still win 27-19.
My 2012 NFL week 7 predictions and picks continue with Green Bay at St. Louis. Can the Rams score another big upset? The Packers will have a tough time in the first half before pulling away for a 31-21 victory on the road. Aaron Rodgers throws for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win. The Packers defense also returns a Sam Bradford interception for a score.
Arizona visits Minnesota in another week 7 game. Can the Cardinals win on the road in a hostile atmosphere? The big question here is can Arizona slow down Adrian Peterson. I really don’t see it happening this week. Vikings cruise to a 31-17 win thanks to 2 touchdowns and 123 yards from a seemingly more healthy Peterson.
There are two Sunday afternoon games on the week 7 NFL schedule. The Jets host New England in what most likely will be the nationally televised game seen in most markets. Can New York figure out a way to salvage a season? Not against Tom Brady and company. Brady hooks up with Wes Welker for 2 scores in a hard fought 27-16 Pats win.
Jacksonville visits Oakland in another Sunday afternoon matchup. I can’t imagine the Jags will turn things around on the road but you certainly expect the unexpected with the Raiders. Still, I think Oakland gets a big boost from their defense with 4 turnovers in a 19-14 ugly game of the week special.
The Sunday night game features Pittsburgh at Cincinnati. The Bengals need these wins at home to continue their playoffs chase. The Steelers typically play cool as cucumbers on the road. With a national television audience, I kind of think the Bengals will find a way to edge Pittsburgh 23-20 in overtime. A costly fumble allows Cincinnati to get great field position in the 4th quarter and leads to a Bengals field goal.
My 2012 NFL week 7 predictions and picks continue with the Monday night game at Soldier Field. Detroit is at Chicago. I think the Bears defense could tally 2 touchdowns in this contest. Jay Cutler provides 2 more scores and 234 yards passing in a 31-23 Chicago win.
That’s it for my 2012 NFL week 7 picks. I’ll be back for another round of predictions next week. Until then, have a wonderful week everyone!
