A quick pick-me-up anytime of the day is right in front of my nose. I keep certain scents nearby to provide a boost of energy that will increase my performance, stamina and improve my mood. Each energizing scent helps me deal more efficiently with all the daily demands on my time and energy, plus the scents are calorie-free and won’t increase my waistline.
Increase Performance Accuracy
When simple tasks require accuracy, such as my daily work of typing and spelling, and my brain and fingers just don’t seem to be in sync, peppermint scent gives the needed boost of energy. A whiff of pure peppermint oil or a sucking on a piece of peppermint candy increases performance accuracy so my fingers can hit the right keys on the keyboard and spell words correctly.
Perk Up With Coffee
The scent of coffee perks up my afternoons and help me beat afternoon fatigue. Drinking a freshly brewed cup of black coffee does the trick for me, but if drinking a cup of coffee is not desirable, just the scent of a cup of coffee or coffee beans will do the trick. Keep a small bowl of coffee beans at your desk for the needed scent anytime a boost of energy is needed.
Cinnamon Increases Concentration
Inhaling this aromatic spice will increase concentration and improve mood. I start my work day with a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with freshly ground cinnamon. I also keep a small cinnamon sachet in a top desk drawer to give an energizing boost each time the desk drawer is opened. A warm cup of herbal tea with a cinnamon stick in the afternoon will keep the concentration going strong and improve mood for hours after drinking.
Lemon Scent Increases Stamina
There’s a good reason why so many energy drinks, air fresheners and cleaning products contain the scent of lemon.Lemon scent increases alertness, stamina and lifts the moods. A whiff of lemon oil, a glass of water with a fresh lemon wedge (great with lunch!) or hard candy containing lemon scent will provide the stamina for a time consuming task and help keep the mood light.
Jasmine Stimulates The Brain
The floral scent of jasmine increases alertness by stimulating the brain. To beat afternoon fatigue or stay alert when driving long distances, drink a cup of herbal tea with jasmine or smell a jasmine sachet.
Sleep deprivation, multi-tasking and too many demands on our time leaves us feeling drained of energy and often cranky. These scents; peppermint, coffee, cinnamon lemon and jasmine will give the boost of energy needed to increase performance and stamina for the multi-tasks at hand and keep the mood light while performing the many tasks.
