Pets can bring joy and happiness to people’s lives and they bring along with them love, friendship, intelligence, a touch of a time clock, and liking to go to bed as much as people do. Since I’ve been retired, one of the greatest joys in my life is learning all about my wonderful pet, enjoying her friendship, and love.
Allow me to introduce Miss Daisy to you; she’s a Jack Russell Terrier, weighing approximately 20 pounds, and she is intelligent and precious as she can be. I’ve earned a deep respect for a pet’s intelligence as I’ve watched how Miss Daisy never forgets the sound of a commercial on television or the time to eat or to go to bed. She times her visits for the potty about every 4 – 6 hours and she’ll let me know when it’s her time to go. She never gets the times wrong and she’ll nudge your hand when she thinks you’ve forgotten.
Many times during the day, I feel like she knows exactly how I’m feeling and what is going through my mind too. She most definitely knows when I’m feeling bad and she’ll not try for a play but curl up beside me in the chair and on occasion she’ll look up into my eyes with such loving care. She knows not to bother me if I’m reading, making out payments, or talking on the phone. Her manners are one of her greatest assets.
We consider Miss Daisy a prized package in our house and we cannot imagine life without her. Her short legs and small body is attractive along with a brown/black patch on one eye while the other eye is solid white. Her ears stand at attention in brown/black colors and her all white body displays dark black spots underneath that peeps through her fur. She’s an attention grabber because everyone who sees her make statements about her beautiful markings and her tiny body.
If you’re a person or a senior who is suffering from loneliness and unhappiness, why not try out a dog or some type of a pet to put some joy and happiness back into your life? They’re easy to train and if you are not able to walk them, it’s worth the money to hire a dog-walker. If you are able to walk them, this will give you the exercise you need to have on a daily basis. There are a lot of people who walk dogs for pay. It’s worth the blessings and activity you’ll receive from your pet and the love you’ll feel in return for them. I guarantee you it’ll cure your feelings of being alone and unloved.
It’s important for seniors to have something to love and to cause them to use their minds and to get up out of a chair and care for their pet. A pet can and will cure a lot of your ailments and give you a desire to want to get up in the morning and to be a part of their daily life too. They give back to people what people give to them and they’ll love you as much as you love them. What more could we want in life?
In my opinion pets can be the answer to many seniors and people’s lives, why not think about it?
