by pop tug

American Idol’s concert tour has done it again! On sunday August 5th the Gwinnett Center Arena hosted the American Idol 11th Season Concert Tour and rocked the house! The highly anticipated 45 date concert tour kicked off July 6th in Motown Music city Detroit, MI at the Joe Louis Arena and will conclude on Sept. 11th in Milwaukee, WI at the Bradley Center. Now here are some other important facts that you may not know; American Idol recently received an incredible 10 Primetime Emmy Award Nomination – which is more than any other reality program on television. The good thing about this entertainment reality show is that family’s can sit together and view the show without having to put your hands over your childs eye’s and ears. (smiles)

Ok enough about tour dates and facts, because I know you really want to know how American Idol’s tour in the Atlanta Metro area rocked the house. So, sit back and buckle your seat while I take you down memory lane.

Ten of the most talented artists to ever hit American Idol’s stage were all in the house on Sunday night and gave the fans an incredible show. Rocking the stage were: Colton Dixon, DeAndre Brackensick, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Skylar Laine and Idols 2012 Season Winner – Phillip Phillips. The entire arena was packed from wall to wall with fans standing, sitting, jumping up and down, dancing in their seats, waving signs that read the names of their favorite Idols and even a few with personal messages such as: “Call Me”. (smiles) One thing for sure is that all of the performer’s were well trained on how to rock the concert tours in order to create and lock in their fan base around the world. These young people performed as if they had been performing for years.

Now speaking of American Idol rocking the Gwinnett Center Arena – what better song to include in your opening selections but the “Party Rock” anthem by LMFAO band. As I looked around the arena; I saw just about everybody out of their seat dancing along with the trio on stage (DeAndre, Jessica and Heejun). I even got up to dance as well but had to remind myself that I needed to preserve my feet for the rest of the night since I was dressed up in my heels. (smiles) Shortly after that Colton Dixon serenaded us on the piano with his new song soon to be released entitled “Never Gone”. Beautiful selection that he wrote to express his connection to Christ in his life.

The second 1/2 of the show wowed the audience with many more Idol favorites and top chart hits such as “Rolling On The River” by Tina Turner which featured the Idol trio (Jessica, Joshua & DeAndre). The producer’s did a great job putting together this trio, because they had so much energy running back and forth across the stage that they made me tired…but in a good way. (smiles) Joshua later came back out with his season favorite rendition of James Brown’s – “This Is A Man’s World” and of course he tour the song, the stage and the audience up. That young man has such a powerful voice as the judges often said throughout the show; that he can literally sing the yellow pages. The crowd went crazy when Phillip Phillips came out which is to be understood, since he’s also a home boy from Leesburg, GA. Although his voice was a bit under the weather he managed to thrill the crowd with his song selections including “Home” which was co-written by Drew Pearson and Greg Holden for him to perform on American Idol. DeAndre & Colton joined him on stage to sing the song that helped him win American Idol 2012 and all three of them did an awesome job on “Home” as a trio.

Now in addition to a great show you also have to have a great production, band, lighting, props, choreography, clothing selections etc. So, hats off to the producer’s of the concert tour. Ok, now I bet you’re wondering how did they close the show? Ok if I tell you – than if you’re not a regular viewer of the show; you need to get on board because I strongly believe that the show is elevating itself to a whole new level of talent. “Think about it – Mariah Carey will be one of the new judges for the 2013 season” Wow! Does it get any better than that? Mariah is all about – excellence!

The last two selections to close out the night were “Raise Your Glass” by Pink where all of the Idol contestants came out dressed in bright neon colors from head to toe and skittled their way back and forth across the stage. (They were so cute, I couldn’t resist that description to paint the picture just as it was viewed) – smiles. Then if that wasn’t enough to wear the crowd out; the final song performed with double the energy was “Glad You Came” by British boy band The Wanted. Now what a great bouncy dance tune… and that’s exactly what you saw throughout the entire audience. Just in case you don’t know the chorus of the popular song, it say’s:
The sun goes down
The stars come out
And all that counts
Is here and now
My universe will never be the same
I’m glad you came!
I’m glad you came!

The 11th Season of American Idol’s stage was graced with so much talent this season that this song was perfect to end the night on. American Idol 2012 – the place where dreams come true!
