The discount travel site Hotwire.com has released the findings of their yearly American Travel Behavior Study. The study was conducted by Harris Interactive and involved over 2,000 U.S adults. It showed that over 72 percent of Americans preferred smaller vacations during the year, rather than going on one large trip.
The survey also showed that most Americans feel they can only afford around three small vacations, between two and five days, each year. Research showed that there are destinations people can get to easily by plane or driving. Depending upon where they live, these destinations would be Anaheim, Cancun, Nashville, Toronto and Hawaii.
This is a city known for its ability to provide travelers something they’ll like in the area of food, music or even fashion. The “Music City” is easily accessible from a variety of direct flights. It has many museums, stage shows and galleries to be enjoyed by all who go there. When you add all this to their reasonable prices, Nashville deserves vacation consideration.
People, who enjoy Hawaii, enjoy it most when they’re able to visit and enjoy off-season prices. It’s the time of year when deals on flights and hotels are abundant. Since Hawaii has a tropical climate all year, those in love with outdoor activities are busy. Snorkeling, hiking, fishing and more are available every day of the year. The off-season is also a great time to catch a glimpse of humpback whales.
This is the place where Disney World can be visited all year. The nearest airport is John Wayne airport, and is easily assessable from other airports around the country. It also has other theme parks such as Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm and more. If theme parks aren’t appealing, there is also Laguna Beach and everything that goes with having a beautiful beach and marina. It’s also close to San Diego and Sea World, as well as the San Diego Zoo. A short trip north provides a chance to experience everything Los Angeles has to offer.
Toronto is the most populated city in Canada, and another destination that is easily accessed by most major American airports. This is perfect for anyone looking to have an international experience as more than 100 different languages are spoken in Toronto. Winter visitors can enjoy abundant opportunities for ice skating. During any time of the year shopping and dining in Yorkville is popular. Some of the best shows can be seen in Toronto’s Theater District. This is a city that’s designed for those who enjoy the theater.
This is a Mexican resort that’s only a few hours flight from most American cities, and is always overflowing with great deals. It’s a place that’s a short distance from such places as Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Puerto Aventuras. Vacationers who go here can experience some of the longest zip lines available in of Latin America. There is beautiful scenery, clear water for snorkeling as well as cave spelunking. When you add an attractive nightlife, it all adds up to a fantastic vacation spot.
In a January 7, 2013 press release, Clem Bason, president of the Hotwire Group is quoted as saying “Every season, we analyze top deal destinations globally, but this time around we’re giving travelers what they told us they need, nearby locales that are ideal for a quick, affordable getaway. Results of the study show that many Americans are continuing their trend of price sensitivity this year, which is resulting in a focus on shorter trips, which tend to be more affordable and easier to take. Still, no matter long or short, travelers are also keen on getting a good deal because the more savings they score, the more trips they can afford to take.”
