On the season 7 finale of “America’s Got Talent,” the judges, host and remaining six finalists dressed to impress, with gorgeous, classy outfits. The show was fast-paced and entertaining, and it all ended with a thrilling Million Dollar tail-waggin’ victory for Olate Dogs!
She speaks Ozzy
Tom Cotter was in full-on funny mode, opening the program with clever one-liners, and a guest appearance from comedy legend Joan Rivers. Cotter said of Sharon Osbourne “she speaks two languages – English and Ozzy!” The sharp-witted Osbourne actually beat him to the punch line by a second or two, which was amusing.
Rivers offered words of encouragement to comedian Cotter by saying to him: “If I had a heart, it would be overflowing.” That is probably comic speak for she really likes him.
And then there were two
A slightly awkward scene came from the cute, well-intentioned group of children that accompanied Joe Castillo’s performance. Bless their hearts for trying, but perhaps a few more rehearsals of the song would have done wonders for them.
The show moved along quickly, with The Untouchables and Joe Castillo cut first, followed by David Garibaldi and His CMYK’s and, in a stunning surprise, the strong favorite, William Close, was eliminated. The final two acts would be Tom Cotter and Olate Dogs.
Sweet and sentimental
The show had a couple sweet, sentimental moments, including Sharon expressing her heartfelt appreciation to Simon Cowell for making “AGT” possible (this was Mrs. Osbourne’s final appearance), and a rather emotional display from Howard Stern, who seemed genuinely elated to have been a judge this past season. Stern also gave a glowing introduction and well-earned praise to host Nick Cannon, before running a fun “Best of Nick” clip segment.
Green Day on fire
Green Day were the musical highlight, performing a new song off their upcoming CD “Uno.” As usual, they were tight, exciting and lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong was vocally on fire tonight.
Tails are waggin’
The big moment of announcing the season 7 winner of “America’s Got Talent” had arrived: it all came down to Tom Cotter and Olate Dogs. With an eternity passing before Nick read the name…finally…Olate Dogs!
Confetti fell from the ceiling, the crowd roared and the newest million dollar act beamed and screamed with pure delight. Sharon Osbourne ran up on the stage to congratulate the father-son trainers, and to pour some major lovin’ on the beautiful, talented canines. It was an exciting and satisfying conclusion.
Way to go, America!
