Are you planning a fall wedding with an apple theme? As a former special events planner, I have a few apple themed wedding favor ideas that I would like to share with you. Here they are:
Coated Apples on a Stick
Based on my experience, you don’t have to be a kid in order to enjoy a good, candy coated apple. As such, candy coated apples would make excellent wedding favors. You could opt to purchase ready-made, candy coated apples. Believe it or not, there are companies that make quite sophisticated looking candy coated apples. You could also opt to make your own candy coated apples. Candy apple making supplies are readily available for purchase through confectionary and kitchen specialty retailers. Prices will vary based on the retailer.
Apple Wine or Sparkling Cider
If you’d rather go with a more “adult” looking, apple themed wedding favor, you may want to invest in miniature bottles of apple wine or apple cider. I’d recommend that if you have underage folks on your guest list that you go with the apple cider. That way you won’t have to worry about someone grabbing a bottle that isn’t meant for them. There are companies, like Beau Coup, that sell ready-made apple cider bottles. You could also opt to make your own. In my experience, it isn’t that hard to make your own apple wine or apple cider. When I was a child, my grandparents would make their own wines all the time. There are several websites that offer apple wine recipes and easy-to-follow directions should you wish to give it a try. As far as empty wine bottles go, you can typically purchase them through specialty bottle shops.
Homemade Apple Butter
In my opinion, homemade or store bought apple butter would make a sweet wedding favor as well. Ready-made jars of apple butter tend to be available for purchase through specialty shops for $4 a jar. I’d suggest that you save some money and make homemade apple butter. If you have never made apple butter before, there are ample websites that provide instructions and recipes that may help you get the job done. Decorative jars to put the apple butter in may be purchased through specialty bottle and packaging shops.
Apple Scented Beauty Products
Apple scented beauty products would also make wonderful wedding favors. You may want to consider making your own apple scented beauty products. In my experience, there are companies that sell apple shaped containers designed to hold lip balms and lotions. Depending on how crafty you feel, you could buy a case of apple shaped containers and then fill them with your own apple scented products or use ready-made, apple scented lotions.
Marzipan Apples
Last but not least, you may want to consider creating a bunch of miniature apples out of marzipan and placing them inside a ½ squat basket. The squat baskets look like miniature versions of the types of baskets that you’d find at an apple orchard. They are sold through specialty shops for $4 each and come in different colors. If you don’t want to make your own marzipan apples, there are companies that will do it for you. In many instances, a dozen marzipan apples will lighten your wallet by about $12.
