Pennsylvania is one of the hotbeds for major Division I men’s basketball programs.
Throughout the years, several Pennsylvania high school basketball stars have gone onto major college basketball programs and some even to the NBA. A few of the most recent examples include Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton and Kobe Bryant.
This article will look at my top Pennsylvania hoops prospects (6-10) from the class of 2014.
6.Basil Thompson (Imhotep Charter HS, Philadelphia) : The 6-6, 175-pound small forward is long and athletic. Thompson excels in transition and is an excellent finisher above the rim especially in traffic. He has a high motor and attacks the glass vigorously on both ends.
Thompson has an offer from the University of Delaware. He has also garnered interest from George Mason, Penn State, Nebraska, Temple and St. Joseph’s.
7. Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman (Allentown) : The 6-4 combo guard left Allentown Central Catholic following his sophomore year with his destination unknown. Abdur-Rahkman possesses good size and has the ability to defend multiple positions. He has the ability to get to the rim off of the dribble as well as drive and kick.
Abdur-Rahkman has offers from Delaware and Houston. He has also gotten interest from SMU, Temple, Xavier and Wisconsin.
8. Isaiah Washington (Williamsport HS, Williamsport) : The 6-3, 175-pound shooting guard is a wiry leaper. Washington possesses a dangerous perimeter shooting stroke and a decent mid-range game. He likes penetrate into the lane and is a good distributor.
Washington committed to Penn St. on April 1, 2012. He also had offers from George Mason, James Madison and Saint Joseph’s.
9. Jeanlee Baez (Allentown Central Catholic HS, Allentown): The 6-6, 210-pound forward is a skilled high- post player with some hops. Baez attacks the rim aggressively and is an excellent passer from the high post. He is automatic from 15-feet and in.
Baez has drawn interest from St. Francis (NY), St. Francis (PA), St. Peter’s and UMBC.
10. Troy Harper (Neumann-Goretti HS, Philadelphia): The 6-1, 165-pound guard is a crafty point guard with swagger. Harper is athletic and possesses a good feel for the game.
Harper has a scholarship offer from Niagara University.
