Key Stone rewards can be a great way to earn XP (experience points) and gold coins. If you play on the Facebook portal you will see these at the bottom of the screen. They are graded according to difficulty. The left one is fairly easy, the middle is a little bit of a challenge and the one on the right can be extremely hard. I have trouble creating a Blazing Steed so when I see a accomplishment of “Create 2 Blazing Steeds” in the right panel I usually just let it expire instead of getting frustrated. The Key Stones are usually available for two days so if you need some extra time to get hyper cubes or to destroy a certain number of gems you don’t have to play beat the clock. Likewise you aren’t stuck with a challenge that you know you can’t complete; it will give you the time left to complete it and offer you a ‘last chance’.
When I started playing Bejeweled Blitz I was using the free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It is a lot easier to get a higher score but if you are using the app then you will not have the Key Stone accomplishments. I play both at the Facebook portal on my computer as well as on mobile devices. When I know that I am close to moving up a level I will play online so that I can collect it. Playing on a mobile device does allow you to increase your points / experience points but if you are trying to complete a Key Stone you need to play at the portal. Simply put, if you need to create 15 hypercubes to receive the reward you need to do them at the portal; creating them within the app version does not count towards the total needed.
The Key Stone accomplishments vary; some of them are easier to complete than others but they are a nice perk to playing at the Facebook portal. There can be some lags from time to time depending on the traffic of the site and your internet connection but it’s nice to get some experience bumps and coins.
Some of the easiest Key Stone rewards are detonating or clearing a certain number of gems; these have appeared in all three slots for me with the smallest number being 800 and the highest being 5,000. Sometimes you need to clear a certain number of a specific color, other times it is the total number of gems detonated. The trickier ones are matching multipliers. For that you need to get to a specific multiplier level and detonate that number in order to have it count. Currently I have a Key Stone worth 4,000 coins for matching six of the 5x multipliers. I have four of them completed and still have two days to go before it expires. Sometimes you will have overlapping Key Stones; the one on the right might ask you to create 15 flame gems and the one in the middle might ask you to create 50 flame gems. When you create the flame gems it counts towards both Key Stones.
I have always had trouble with Blazing Steed so I save up my free offers from the Daily Spin to use when I get a Key Stone for it. Right now I have a 1,000,000 XP reward if I can create two Blazing Steeds in one game; I have one free one that I can use but I don’t want to risk not being able to create another one. This offer expires in two days. My other existing Key Stone reward is 110,00 XP for destroying 60 white gems. I have been playing this for a couple of months and the Key Stone offers have gotten a little harder but there have only been a few of them that were completely impossible. I like the fact that you are given two days to complete the offer; just enough time to get it done but not so much time that you feel like your matches are being wasted.
The Mystery Treasure for completing a Key Stone is revealed when you claim it in the prize center. When I play on the computer I have to refresh or reload the prize screen to see what I have earned. You can delete offers for special stones if you want but it is nice to save a couple of the Moon Stones in case you need them and don’t want to wait for a random offer. I usually get the Mystery Treasure offer for collecting a certain number of gold coins. Every little bit helps and since I do not purchase coins to buy the boots getting 500 or 5,000 is a nice bonus. The “invalid move” Key Stone can get frustrating when you are having a great game with a high score and you end up accidentally swapping gems when you are having a cascade. Thankfully the games are only a minute long so restarting isn’t really recommended; just finish the game to get the experience points and whatever gold coins you may have collected in the game.
In order to get the Key Stones you have to go through the tutorial at the Facebook portal; when you do you have one of them available. When you get to the fifth level / fifth ranking you have another one available and the third one is activated when you reach the twentieth.
