They’re back, and they’ve burst through both the stratosphere (and those other atmospheric layers) and straight up the ranks in the mobile apps stores. Yes, those Angry Birds we all love have returned for an all new addicting adventure in Angry Birds Space.
This Isn’t Just Another Angry Birds.
Rather than delivering a themed spin-off of the previous Angry Birds titles with a new splash of paint and some minor tweaks, Finnish developer Rovio, has delivered a whole new avian charged game to the masses. With an updated engine that includes all new physics, a new intriguing storyline to follow, and new levels to master – we will all certainly be sneaking in a little Angry Birds action instead of getting our work done.
Countdown to Blastoff.
So why travel outer space? It turns out that those pigs are at it again. While those peaceful yet vengeful birds were taking a much needed break, their golden eggs were taken right from their nests and stolen right from under their beaks. They now rest hidden in strange locations on some very strange planets. It is up to us to help the birds move from planet to planet in an act of revenge, and to find those missing eggs.More on what finding these eggs has to offer below.
Birds, Old and New.
Our favorite birds are back and are joined by some new recruits. The Ice Bird for example holds the extraterrestrial power to freeze enemies in their path, while Lazer Bird not only looks cool while sporting futuristic shades, but is also the fastest bird in the galaxy.
Great New Gameplay.
Gone is the old simple aim and shoot. Space itself has zero gravity, and planets have varying levels of gravitational pull. This means that all trajectories take a little extra skill to achieve when slinging those birds. Go too low and crash land. Go too high, and drift off into dark space.
Golden Eggs, Bonus Levels.
Finding the elusive golden eggs doesn’t only provide a sense of accomplishment but it presents even more interesting gameplay. Find and retrieve an egg, and be rewarded with pixelated bonus gameplay based on old-school favorites including Space Invaders.
Birds Everywhere.
Angry Birds Space is available for Android devices via Google Play, and is also available for the iOS in the iTunes App Store. Angry Birds Space is also available for the Mac and PC. The once announced BlackBerry PlayBook version release is now uncertain.
