Bob Ross, the happy painter, has become more popular than ever. Bob Ross’ “The Joy of Painting” ran on PBS from 1983 to 1994 and is still carried as reruns on many affiliate stations. The happy painter turned out landscapes in a matter of minutes with his trademark wet on wet technique. I paint – at least I used to – but I never painted along with Ross; I just enjoyed watching him paint. His soothing voice delivering pearls of wisdom and tranquil style have made Ross a pop-culture icon.
Memorable Bob Ross Quotes
We don’t make mistakes, we just have happy accidents.
I have always loved Bob Ross and his low-budget, campy show. His show is a de-stressor; it is hard to stay upset when his calming voice is prattling on about happy clouds and telling you he believes you can do it. In “The Joy of Painting” Bob Ross also turned out many, many memorable quotes. Ross’ words make me feel as if everything is all good and I can do anything I choose, a message many need to hear.
You can do anything you want to do. This is your world.
