In the 1970’s, my family often ate at a fast food resteraunt called Kenny Burger. Shortly after Kenny’s went out of business, there were rumors that they used horse meat to make their burgers. I have never in all these years been able to find out, if this was fact or fiction.
Today a popular fast food chain has actually acknowledged to indulging in what Kenny’s was accused of. Burger King in the United Kingdom has admitted to adding horse meat to their Whoppers. For several weeks executives representing the home of the whopper, have denied the rumors. Their admission means they have been perpetuating a great deception on customers all over the world.
It is reported that over 10 million burgers in countries in the United Kingdom were tested and proven to have at least 29% horsemeat in their ingredients. After two weeks of denial, a B. K. representative has apologized. The official statements is that they will no longer use the Silvercrest Corporation. This is the companythat provided the meat, which was marketed and sold as 100% pure beef..
We have all more than likely eaten foods that were tainted, or had ingredients which were not listed. That is why I am glad, I learned as a young girl to always pray over my food. Today before I eat I thank the Lord that my food has full nutritional value, is nourishment to my spirit soul and body and free of all impurities. As a believer in Jesus as The Way to salvation, I end my prayers in His Name.
In Exodus 23:25, Moses gives this command from the Lord, to the children of Israel: And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I shall take sickness away from the midst of thee. Although this was specifically to those who came out of Egypt, I believe we can claim this by faith today.
The Burger King Franchise has been outed, so to speak, and caught in a whopper size lie. Therefore patrons of this establishment will be facing hard choices. Billions of customers world wide will decide whether to remain loyal, or walk away. And Burger King’s around the world will more than likely be affected.
Will the public be forgiving and chalk this up as miscommunication between Burger King and their supplier? Will Burger King customers believe their favorite restaurant bought the horse meat unaware and absolve them of wrong doing? Or will there be a defection in mass numbers, which will cause the decline of a giant?
The old Burger King jingle told the public; Have it your way at Burger King, but now BK in the UK might be crooning like Frank Sinatra; “And now, the end is here And so I face the final curtain, My friend, I’ll say it clear I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain I’ve lived a life that’s full I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way “.
Will this situation work itself out or will Burger King customers now sing; Hold the pickle hold the lettuce and hold the horse meat? Can the home of the whopper survive or will the King of Burgers to be dethroned? Only time will tell.
