One of my guilty little pleasures is the Celebrity Apprentice, from the tasks to the executions of the tasks, to the boardroom I love it all.
The Cast
At the beginning of the episode on April 15, 2012 there were 8 celebrities remaining: Paul Teutul Sr. from American Choppers, Lisa Lampanelli the queen of mean, Arsenio Hall, Aubrey O’Day from Making the Band, Theresa Giudici from the Real Housewives, Clay Aiken from American Idol, and Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, and Penn Jillette who is a well known comedian and half of the comic and magic act Penn and Teller.
This week’s task was to create a Puppet show for the Henson’s Stuffed and Unstrung group. The celebrities had create two puppets and then perform on stage with an improve group and basically organize the event. They would be judged on who gave the better performance and listened to the rules of improve. They had to learn how to work the puppets, create he puppets, and then two from each team had to learn the rules of improve to perform with their puppets, and one person had to be the host for the event and work with the audience and know when to end each segment and move on to the next.
Aubrey, Arsenio, Theresa, and Paul Tuttle Senior were on one team. The other team consisted of Lisa, Clay, Dayana, and Penn. Lisa Lampanelli took on the challenge of project manager for her team while Paul Teutul Sr. became the project leader for his group. This was really not the best choice since this is not really his forte, and Arsenio or possibly Aubry would have been much more suited to head up this task. For Lisa’s team she was a good choice for project lead but Penn would have also been a good choice.
The Task
The tasks were broken up accordingly, Clay and Lisa would perform on the stage with the puppets for their team while Penn who was too tall to work a puppet took on the role of host. Lisa did not delegate any show tasks to Dayana’s dismay and she was pretty angry about this. Dayana did get to do a lot of the puppet design however, and she turned out to be really good at it. During the show however she was left standing around doing nothing. I don’t really understand why she could not have been given some kind of task for the show but it was Lisa’s decision and that is what she decided.
On Paul’s team Theresa and Arsenio performed on the stage with the puppets while Aubrey was the host. Seniors job was to supervise which basically appeared to mean do nothing. He had hurt is back that morning so he could not work a puppet. Theresa and Arsenio made their own puppets. Sr. just pretty much sat around and watched everyone.
The teams did pretty well at the task and we viewers got to see both shows. Theresa was the only one who really struggled, but she did manage to get through it. She however broke a lot of the rules of improve. Clay did an amazing job and ended up being really funny, of course we knew Lisa and Penn would be funny but Clay was really good. Their performance did however go a bit to far towards more adult themes.
The Drama
There was some drama on Lisa’s team as Dayana complained in the dressing room shortly before the show started about Lisa was not using her. Lisa completely lost it on her, and I have always been a fan of Lisa’s even saw her in person, but I think she was kind of sidelining Dayana. There has been a conflict with these two pretty much the whole season. Some feel that Lisa might be jealous of Dayana’s beauty, I hope that is not true, I hope Lisa is better that that.
The Boardroom
There was not all that much fight in the boardroom this week, of course there was a little scratching and clawing but nothing major. The teams were given their results. On Paul’s team the positives were that Aubrey was a very good host and had great timing and Arsenio was a good puppeteer. The negatives were that Theresa broke a lot of the rules of improve and their puppets were not general enough. They had been told by Hensen that general puppets were better for improve so that they were more flexible for different scenes. Arsenio turned his in to a Rocker and Theresa turned hers in to a fancy lady that was all decked out.
On Lisa’s team the positives were that Lisa and Clay were very good, they were also very funny, the puppets were nicely done they said they would gladly hire Dayana to come make puppets for them. The negatives were that a couple of times Penn got so involved watching the puppet show that he forgot to end segments in a timely manner, and one portion of the act got a little too adult.
Lisa’s team was made the winning team and her team got to go up to the hotel suite to enjoy food, beverages, and watching what happened with the other team on the television set in the suite.
Paul was asked who he wanted to bring back in to the boardroom and process of elimination he decided to save Arsenio and bring in Aubrey and Theresa. He really had no reason for bringing Aubrey in as she had done an amazing job, but he felt from past experience that Arsenio would be a better team mate going forward and since there was only 4 of them he had to bring in someone besides Theresa. Senior did not put up that much of a fight and couldn’t say anything bad about Aubrey, he did say that Theresa was not a quick thinker however. Theresa shot back by yelling out that Paul didn’t do anything during the task but throw F-Bombs. From what we were shown that was pretty much the truth.
The Firing
Trump questioned Paul as to why he did not bring Arsenio in when Arsenio clearly did not follow the rule about the puppet being general instead of Aubrey who had been 100% excellent on the task. This ended up being Paul Sr.’s down fall and he was fired.
Paul SR. just did not seem to have any fight in him and was very gracious about being fired. He kind of seemed really not to care all that much about being fired. He gave what was probably one of the most humble exit interviews I have ever seen on the show and said he really enjoyed and appreciated the whole experience.
