The fun starts early in Chewelah, Washington, for Halloween. Please join us on Friday, October 26, as our local radio station, KCHW (102.7 FM) launches its First Annual BOOFEST. You won’t want to miss out on this Spooktacular event! (For more information on Boofest 2012 please contact KCHW at 509.935.6627 and leave a message or contact Schelley at 509.675.2613).
Local businesses will have trick or treating from approximately 4:00 p.m. To 6:00 p.m. A “passport/map” will be provided in the local Independent paper to the youth. You’ll want to get your passport/map stamped (or stickered as some businesses will do instead). At the end of the evening all completed passports/maps will be entered into a drawing for a fun prize.
Local businesses are encouraged to participate in a window decorating contest for their business. Decorate your business window to enter the contest.
At 6:30 p.m. Join us at the Civic Center for a Costume Contest with age divisions (including adults), Snacks, raffles, games and a Monster Mash Ball community dance will round out the evening.
We’ll also be working with the Senior All Nighter on their annual Haunted House fund raiser and the Chewelah Farmer’s Market to provide hay rides.
Don’t forget to decorate your house as well as your business. A house decorating contest is the perfect way to involve your entire family.
A coloring contest will be available for the younger set. Get your Witch Hockey teams together for our hockey event. Hats and brooms will be provided.
Join our Jack-O-Lantern carving contest and more for a great launch to the Weekend before Halloween.
On Wednesday the 31st, Halloween night, Abundant Life Fellowship (on the Corner of 2nd and Clay in Chewelah 509.935.8029) will have their annual harvest party from 6:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. Bring the kids for our cake walk (one year our daughter spent the entire two hours on the cake walk and came home with 7 cakes!), face painting (great if someone needs a costume edit or addition), mini golf (show off those golfing skills), balloon dart throw, bean bag toss, fishing pond and more. There will be plenty of candy treats for all to enjoy. Coffee, cider and tea will be provided as well as a few snacks. Young and old alike enjoy this annual event.
Be a party hopper and hop on over to Faith Community Church (located at: 313 West Colville Avenue in Chewelah 509. 935.8505) between 6:00 p.m. And 8:00 p.m. when you’re done at Abundant Life Fellowship. More games await you from a bean bag bottle toss, bowling for candy to a dark room with black lights to draw in (show off your artistic skills and let your work shine through). Again, plenty of candy awaits your little one as we provide a safe environment to enjoy your Halloween events. Young and old alike enjoy this annual event as well.
Trick or treaters will be out in force on Halloween night in this town so we ask that drivers slow down and watch for all of our little ghosts and goblins as they canvas the town in search of candy and treats.
