Wildflower! began twenty years ago as a small community event and has grown into a three day, award-winning festival that attracts over 70,000 attendees each year. The festival is completely produced and managed by the City of Richardson with the help of over 1,500 volunteers and corporate sponsors.
The festival site is located in Galatyn Park Urban Center in Richardson, Texas, just off of US 75 Central Expressway at the Galatyn Parkway exit and can be accessed by the Dart Rail. There is ample parking nearby. On-site covered parking is available for a small fee of $5.
Besides the extensive music venue that includes big names and up and coming bands that have competed for a coveted spot, Wildflower! boasts a variety of acts in Performance Row that delight audiences of all ages.
Families with young children will want to stop in at Kidz Korner where children can have their faces painted, make a beaded bracelet, rock out on the karaoke stage, visit the Richardson petting zoo, climb a rock wall or jump in a big bounce house. Other fun activities include a giant covered sand pit, a butterfly tent, crafts, and hula hoops.
Parents should consider bringing a change of clothes for their little ones. Children of all ages play in the Galatyn Park Fountain, located on festival grounds, which features a vanishing pool with pulsating, elliptically-arranged water eruptions that can reach as much as 60 feet in height.
For the older kids or the permanently young at heart, the Game Zone sponsored by Game Haven will host a series of video game tournaments and free play, featuring some of today’s most popular video games on Xbox 360, Kinect and Wii. There is no fee to play.
No coolers are allowed. However, parents may bring their own snacks and drinks for babies and toddlers. Vendors are located throughout the festival site and accept cash only.
All event seating at Wildflower! for indoor and outdoor performances is on a first come, first serve basis. Blankets, cushions, and chairs may be brought into the festival grounds for outdoor seating.
