Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Dallas Cowboys’ key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.
Tony Romo, QB
Romo finished the week earning 16.84 fantasy points in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons. This week he faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has given up an average of 15.93 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Romo has been disappointing for the Cowboys overall this season but continues to be moderately consistent from a fantasy perspective. He has a good matchup this week, which should translate into around 20.00 fantasy points against the Eagles.
Felix Jones, RB
Jones finished the week earning 10.90 fantasy points against the Falcons. This week he faces an Eagles’ defense that has allowed an average of 16.09 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Jones is a questionable play this week due to the fact DeMarco Murray may return for Week 10. Provided Jones gets the starting nod and the majority of the touches, look for around 11.00 fantasy points this week. I would strongly recommend keeping a close eye on Murray’s status heading into Sunday’s contest.
Dez Bryant, WR
Bryant finished the week earning just 1.50 fantasy points against Atlanta. This week he faces a Philadelphia defense that has given up an average of 21.94 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season. Bryant caught just one pass for 15 yards against the Falcons, which could be attributed to a hip injury. On the flip side, if his hip continues to be a problem, his value as a fantasy starter will certainly drop. Look for around 11.00 fantasy points this week provided he rebounds and finds the end zone at least once in this solid matchup.
Miles Austin, WR
Miles finished the week earning 7.60 fantasy points against the Falcons. This week he shares the solid matchup against the Eagles with his fellow receivers. Austin continues to be Romo’s top target but unfortunately does not find the end zone every week, as was the case against Atlanta. This week he has a good chance at scoring which should justify a projection of at least 12.00 fantasy points on the week.
