Simplifying Christmas décor doesn’t have to mean paring it down to next to nothing, it simply means scaling back and decorating smart instead of hard. These quick and easy DIY candle centerpieces will dress up the Christmas dinner table without costing you a lot of time or money.
Portable Pillar Candles
If you want something elegant that matches your Holiday décor color scheme and that can be moved from one location to another, you have to create this portable pillar candle centerpiece. Even if you don’t need to move it during the Holiday season, it’s worth creating.
Select any Christmas tray, plate or platter that you have on hand and won’t be needing to use during a Holiday feast. Place an odd number of pillar candles in the center of the tray (three or five work best for aesthetic purposes), arranging them an eye-pleasing pattern. A staggered row, straight line or circle works well, as do pillar candles of varying height.
Surround the pillar candles with Christmas tree ornaments in complimentary colors, then fill in any gaps with evergreen sprigs snipped from your Christmas tree or use twigs and berries snipped from a Holly bush. Place finished candle arrangement in the center of the table and enjoy the compliments.
Apple Candle Holders
Three elements make up this delightfully creative and easy candle centerpiece; apples, candles and cupcake papers. Select three or five large red apple without blemishes. Use a paring knife to carve out a small round hole in the top center of each apple. Match the hole size with the size of the bottom of the selected candles. Insert a candle into the top of each apple (chime candles or small taper candle work best for this DIY craft), then place each apple in a cupcake paper and set in a single row in the center of the dinning table. Use festival, Christmas colored cupcake papers to add to the whimsy or match the candle and cupcake paper colors (like gold candle and gold papers) to add a touch of elegance.
Candles and Cinnamon Sticks
This is a good DIY project to put those odd Christmas saucers to use. Place one pillar or votive candle in the center of a decorative saucer, then break a couple of cinnamon sticks in half and place around the candle. Add a couple miniature Christmas tree balls or small sprigs of greenery and you’ll have created a fragrant centerpiece suitable for displaying on a coffee tale, end table or hall table.
