As NFL teams report to camp, it is a great time to start talkin’ about some football. Here is a look at my predictions for the NFC East in 2012.
Dallas Cowboys: In 2011, the Cowboys finished 8-8 overall and finished 2-4 in the NFC East. The Cowboys offense will once again be lead by QB Tony Romo and his talented receiving targets in Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones will need to improve on their numbers from 2011 to help the Cowboys reach the next level. The defense will once again be lead by Demarcus Ware and Sean Lee. The NFC East will again be one of the toughest divisions in the league and the Cowboys will be in the mix but they might come up a little short in 2012.
My best prediction for the Cowboys: 10-6.
My worst prediction for the Cowboys: 8-8.
My most likely prediction for the Cowboys: 9-7.
New York Giants: Last seasons Super Bowl champs finished 9-7 overall and finished 3-3 in the NFC East. Once again the Giants win the Super Bowl riding great hot streaks at the end of the season. Eli Manning will once again be back to lead the offense in 2012. Eli will look for help from running back Ahmad Bradshaw and with the loss of Brandon Jacobs to free agency, the Giants will need D.J. Ware to step up to help in the backfield. The wide receiving corps will again be lead by Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. The Giants defense will be lead by DB Antrel Rolle and DE Jason Pierre-Paul. Again the NFC East is a tough division and if the Giants can stay healthy they might make another run but I look for the Giants to take a step back in 2012.
My best prediction for the Giants: 9-7.
My worst prediction for the Giants: 7-9.
My most likely prediction for the Giants: 8-8
Philadelphia Eagles: In 2011, the Eagles finished 8-8 overall and finished 5-1 in the NFC East. The great Michael Vick is back to lead a high powered Eagles offense that also features running back LeSean McCoy and receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. The defensive unit will be lead by a talented DB Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles will need improvement from the front seven to have success in 2012. The improvement by the other teams in the division will make it tough for the Eagles to repeat a 5-1 performance in the division in 2011.
My best prediction for the Eagles: 10-6.
My worst prediction for the Eagles: 6-10.
My most likely prediction for the Eagles: 9-7
Washington Redskins: In 2011, the Redskins finished 5-11 overall and 2-4 in the NFC East. This season all eyes are on Robert Griffin III or RGIII as he has come to be known as. With the production of Cam Newton last season for the Carolina Panthers creates excitement around Griffin. The number 2 pick in the draft has brought excitement to Redskins football but that will not be enough to address the lack of a solid running game. The defense will again be lead by LB London Fletcher, DB DeAngelo Hall, and second year LB Ryan Kerrigan. Year one of RGIII is just the beginning of what could be a bright career but until other roster needs are met look for small improvements from the Redskins in 2012.
My best prediction for the Redskins: 7-9
My worst prediction for the Redskins: 4-12.
My most likely prediction for the Redskins: 6-10.
My 2012 Prediction Standings NFC East:
- 1. Dallas Cowboys: 9-7
- 2. Philadelphia Eagles: 9-7
- 3. New York Giants: 8-8
- 4. Washington Redskins: 6-10
