Curtis Hixon Riverfront Park, the 8 acre showplace of rolling lawns, beautiful vistas and user friendly space for everything from magnificent light shows, to frisbee tosses with the puppy, to a quiet noon-day snooze, to a rockin’ concert to a great flick on a giant screen will host “Easter is Here,” on Easter Sunday, April 8 in a day long festival with something for the whole family for the whole day.
The event, is sponsored by Relevant Church, a new age denomination church which is located in Ybor City adjacent to downtown Tampa.
The Kids Zone – 10AM
Filled with all of the things kids love to do on Easter Sunday, assuming, of course that they have already discovered the delightful, treat filled Easter basket tucked up by their bed early in the morning by you know who.
There are interactive games, face painting, balloon twisters, Uncle Mike’s petting zoo, a whopper of an Easter Egg hunt with 20,000….you heard right…20,000 eggs hidden in unexpected places around the park, and the hunt will include an Easter Egg trail for pre-schoolers. No cheating you fourth graders!
And of course, after the Easter egg hunt, the kids get to have their picture taken with that big fella in the Easter Bunny suit who hid all of those eggs.
Religious Service – 11AM
sponsored by the organizer of the event, Relevant church. (http://www.relevantchurch.com )
Noon – Bring on the goodies!
Food trucks from Stinky Buns, Jimmy Meatballs, American Weiner, Fat Tortillas, 2 Asians, 1 grill, Burger Culture, and Maggie on the Move will be on site and will serve up a great variety of food which is probably best described in their names, and are all the things that kids and grown ups love to eat outside on a beautiful day, in a beautiful park, by a beautiful river in a beautiful city.
When the last fork, plate and spoon and cup have been tossed away, bring out the chairs and the blankets and let the music begin!
Concert – 2PM
The concert featuring, Arc The Sun, Zobrist, and Julianna will begin and continue until everybody is all tuckered out, and it’s time to take the kids home and tuck them in.
The event is free. The food is not -except for the hidden eggs – but the prices are very reasonable and nothing on the food trucks is priced over $4.00 by prior arrangement with the organizers.
