As summer starts to wind down, we begin looking ahead to fall. It’s almost time to put away the shorts and bikinis and get ready for beautiful new fall fashion! What’s in style this year that you can pull out from last year? What new pieces will you add to your wardrobe? Here are a few ideas.
Give Pants A Chance!
Pants are in again, and this fall we’re going to be seeing a lot of pattern, color and texture. Floral jeans, colored denim in dark, jewel tones, ankle length pants and leggings are just a few of the styles of pants you’ll see in stores this season. Pants that have a leather look to them or some shimmer are also stylish, and anything with a pattern from paisley to plaid will be in vogue this fall.
Prep School
The preppy look has come back around. Plaid skirts, loafers, cardigans and button up shirts are back this season. Don’t end up looking like a teenager going to private school, though. Keep this trend grown up by adding leggings under a plaid skirt or putting a turtleneck under a cardigan for a more sophisticated look. Pair with Mary Jane heels or tasseled loafers for a polished, preppy style.
Dress To Impress
Dresses this fall are all about print. Black and white floral and geometric prints, bohemian paisley print dresses that are colorful and anything with red in it, which is a color that has been showing up a lot on fall runways. Hemlines are low and maxi dresses are still in style. Throw a jacket on over any dress to update it and bring it into 2012.
Bag It!
This year, instead of purchasing several different bags or clutches, pool your purse money and buy one nice statement bag that will last all season and go with everything. A large hobo bag, tote or satchel in a neutral leather color such as black, cream or brown will be indispensable throughout the fall and look great with every outfit. Now all you need is an evening clutch and your purse shopping for the season is done.
Heavy Metal
Accessories this season are mostly silver tones. Delicate silver jewelry, chunky necklaces and shimmery earrings are all the rage for fall. Mix it up with different patterns and textures when you’re accessorizing, but stay in the same shade of metal for a put together look.
These Boots Are Made For Walkin’
Boots are back…again! High heeled knee boots, ankle boots and just about every kind of boot is in for fall again, so if you splurged on boots last fall, get ’em back out of the closet! Ankle boots look great with leggings and short pants, and higher boots make skirts and dresses a little rougher around the edges.
