Florida’s seniors, who represent about 22 percent of the state’s voting-age population, may play a large role in how the state swings on Nov. 6. As Election Day nears, Yahoo News asked Floridians who are or nearing retirement, Medicare and Social Security age to share their thoughts on the election. Here’s one perspective.
FIRST PERSON | This president and his administration leave me with questions. I wonder, will Social Security and Medicare be there for the next generation? I worry about college graduates who are unable to secure good paying jobs with benefits.
There are more people out of work under Obama now than in all our nation’s history. There are more people on welfare during these last four years, then all the prior years since our country began. We need to think about that information. What does it mean to each of us?
Citizens are losing homes to foreclosures, yet taxpayer money was given to banks in a bail out. The banks in turn gave it to their executives as bonuses. Romney has alternative plans to solve these issues. “We the People” cannot financially afford four more years of Obama.
I recommend everyone vote because your family and the lives of your children and grandchildren depend on it for their future. If the Obama Health Care Bill is not repealed it will negatively affect every American for generations.
We do not know everything about Romney, however, I have read he gave away all his father’s millions to charity when inherited. He is a self made millionaire. He was a Governor who took no salary from the state. He saved companies and jobs. The truth is he kept many companies operating for several years before closing them. He showed he had the knowledge and the strength to make the tough decisions. Everything shows him to be an ethical man. A word that the President, Senate and Congress do not have in their vocabulary.
I want a president who will make the tough decisions. A man who will not turn my America into a socialist country. I am satisfied with the jobs our forefathers accomplished with the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. Both have worked for over 200 years. We are a nation built on Christian values. You cannot change history, nor should we want to.
Please note that prior to the Obama Administration America was:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77; The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%; The unemployment rate was 4.6%; George Bush’s economic policies set a record of 52 consecutive months of job growth.
Congress added to the crisis by dumping 5-6 Trillion dollars of toxic loans on the economy from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiascoes! Bush asked Congress 17 times to stop Fannie & Freddie because it was financially risky for the US economy. Obama and the Democratic Congress fought against reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack.
I will take my chances with fresh blood for the next four years. If I turn out to be wrong, my vote will be for the other guy in the next presidential election year!
