Everyone wants their wedding day to be perfect. A dream wedding, however, can get very expensive and very fast. One of the most expensive parts of a wedding can be the flower arrangements. Even the cheapest flowers can end up costing quite a bit by the time all of the boquets, arrangements and decorations are made. Here are some tips to help you save money on the cost of flowers for your wedding.
Shop around
One of the best ways to save money on anything is to shop around. Visit or call your local florist shops and give them an idea of what you’ll need and get an estimate. If you’re not sure on price, try comparing local prices to the prices of neighboring cities and towns. Depending on the price difference, it may be worth it to get your flowers in the next town over.
Create your own arrangements
Flower arrangements and bouquets can be quite expensive. You can save a significant amount of money by arranging your bouquets yourself. Most florists will allow you to buy the flowers, grasses and accents you’ll need to create your own arrangements. Flower arranging is easy and fun and can be a great way to cut costs.
Stay in season
When planning your wedding, take the date into consideration. Flowers that aren’t in season at the time of your wedding are likely to be much more expensive than flowers that are. If you have your heart set on a specific date, do some research to find out what flowers are in season at that time. Likewise, if you’re set on a specific type of flower at your wedding, check to see what months that flower is in season. Planning your wedding accordingly can save a lot of money.
Don’t schedule your wedding near a holiday
Near holidays, the costs of flowers are often higher than usual. Additionally, flowers are much more in demand near holidays and a florist may not be able to obtain the flowers you’ll need for your wedding. If possible, avoid scheduling your wedding close to holidays that might require flowers, such as Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day. Not only will the flowers cost you more around these holidays, but you may have a hard time finding enough flowers for your wedding.
Opt for artificial
Opting for artificial flowers is a great way to save money on flowers for your wedding. For some, the cost of real flowers is simply too much, while for others, they have no preference between real flowers and silk flowers. If you want to jazz up artificial flowers, consider painting the tips with glitter, or spritzing them with your favorite perfume to make them smell nice.
