Independence Day is often celebrated across America with backyard BBQ, fireworks, baseball games, concerts, parades, fishing trips, shopping or just enjoying an evening out with family and friends. Pittsburgh is no different! Pittsburghers celebrate the Fourth of July for days on end. EQT Three Rivers Regatta and Fireworks
Without question, the biggest Fourth of July celebration in Pittsburgh is the EQT Three Rivers Regatta and Fireworks. The world-class water, land and air festival attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually and it’s entirely free to the public. Some of the activities include: Powerboat Superleague North American Championship, artificial ice rink (skates provided), concerts, sand sculpting, bike stunt shows, dragon boats and fireworks by Pyrotecnico. Pirates Baseball
What’s more American that baseball on the Fourth of July? On Wednesday, July 4, the Pittsburgh Pirates play host to the Houston Astros at PNC Park on the North Shore. Ticket prices vary. Free Concerts
On Saturday, June 30, 2012, the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps will perform a free concert at the Point State Park downtown. The free, hour-long event starts at 4 p.m. and will take place on the Park’s Front Lawn.
The Rivers Casino is offering a free concert on the Fourth of July as a part of their “Live on the River” summer concert series. The rock group “America” will perform at 8 p.m. in the Casino’s Amphitheater. The cost is free.
