Overview – Captain America is one of the best protector characters in the game. He is much more durable than most other tacticians, yet still provides team buffs like most tacticians. He basically has no downsides, with the possible exception that he has no real high damage attack options. Captain America is one of the few characters that can be used in every fight, no matter who or what the opponent is.
How to Obtain – Captain America can be purchased for 90 command points.
Special Abilities – Lead the Charge / Inspiring Leadership – These two abilities define Captain America’s role on the battlefield. With these abilities he is almost always the first character to act and once he takes an action, all allies gain a boost to all stats. Even without good powers, the abilities would make Captain America a good choice in any fight.
Shield Bash (Level 1) – Captain America’s first attack costs a moderate amount of stamina and deals reasonably high damage as well as decreasing the accuracy of the target hit. It is a purely middle of the road attack in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
Leading Strike (Level 2) – This low stamina cost attack deals moderate damage and makes the next single target attack that hits the target deal even more damage. It is roughly as efficient as Shield Bash, so choosing which one to use is probably entirely dependent on situation.
Shield Throw (Level 6) – This is the only attack that Captain America has that targets multiple enemies. When used, this high stamina cost attack deals low damage and places a debuff on the enemies that make them take extra damage from ranged attacks. If Captain America is paired with ranged attacking allies, this is very good, if not, he generally shouldn’t use it.
Shield Guard (Level 9) – When Captain America activates this power he intercepts all enemy attacks, including area attacks. Additionally, he has a chance to completely negate any attack made against him and counters all attacks with Shield Bash. Usually Captain America should start every fight by using this power, unless he is wearing the WWII Captain America variant uniform.
Unlocks – Captain America is not currently needed to unlock any game content, but may be required for future special operations.
PvP – Captain America is considered one of the best characters in PvP. His ability to defend and boost ally stats makes him a great team up with weaker allies that need a few rounds to build up. He won’t be able to defeat a blaster in the first round due to his low damage and need to defend, but no blaster should be able to defeat him in a single round, either, which makes that even. Even better, not a single infiltrator in the game is a major threat to him.
Variant Uniforms – Captain America has four variant uniforms. The previously mentioned WWII Captain America uniform is available in either tactician or bruiser versions and has the Shield Guard ability. This works exactly like Captain America’s level 9 ability of the same name, except that it lasts for two rounds instead of one. The Avengers Captain America uniform also came in bruiser and tactician versions, but is no longer available. It provides the Avengers Assemble ability to those who already own it. The tactician version of the WWII Captain America uniform is by far the best of all of his uniforms.
