Overview – Human Torch is a classic glass cannon. His attacks are some of the highest damage attacks in the game, especially considering the stamina cost of his attacks, but his accuracy is only modest and his ability to take a concentrated assault is almost non-existent. His special abilities dissuade enemies from attacking him which helps make up for his short falls, but he is one of the characters that can potentially be defeated quickly and due to his complete reliance on fire attacks is completely worthless against some foes.
How to Obtain – Human Torch costs 33 command points to purchase.
Special Abilities – Flying / Blazing Speed / Flame On! / Plasma Body – Human Torch has a variety of defensive special abilities. His first two abilities make him immune to ground attacks and extra evasive against ranged attacks. His Flame On! special ability increases his attack stat and gives him health regeneration. The ability ends after two rounds but can be reactivated if he recharges or is affected by burning. His Plasma Body special ability makes him almost immune to fire and deals damage to enemies that make melee attacks against him. This is one of the best suites of defensive abilities in the game.
Flame Stream (Level 1) – For a moderate stamina cost, this attack deals massive damage and applies burning to a single target. Against enemies that aren’t fire immune, this is an excellent attack.
Fireball (Level 2) – This attack deals ridiculous damage to a single target, especially if the target is already burning. Used after Flame Stream, this attack is almost certain to defeat the target.
Ring of Fire (Level 6) – Compared to the previous two attacks, Ring of Fire damage is a little low, though still relatively high compared to other heroes. The big advantage of Ring of Fire is that it has a very low stamina cost and causes the target to take damage when it makes melee attacks. Still, it is almost never worth using unless Human Torch is almost completely out of stamina.
Nova Blast (Level 9) – Nova Blast is basically only useful in PvP. It deals modest to exceptional damage to all allies and enemies, depending on how low Human Torch’s remaining health is. In PvP, it can turn a likely loss into a draw, but in regular play it is basically worthless.
Unlocks – Human Torch unlocks the premium mission in chapter 7, allowing you to gain the Golden T. Q. 5000.
PvP – Human Torch is excellent in PvP. His special abilities keep him alive for the first few rounds, and that gives him enough time to unleash a full powered Fireball on an enemy. His one flaw is that Captain America is very popular in PvP and he is susceptible to tacticians. Still, only a few tacticians in the game can defeat him in a single round, which means he has time to either regenerate health or use Nova Blast if desperate.
Variant Uniforms – Human Torch has two variant uniforms. He has a blaster and bruiser version of the Annihilus Human Torch uniform. This uniform adds the Cosmic Control Rod and Future Countdown special abilities to Human Torch. The former adds a little damage, which isn’t particularly helpful. The latter, when paired with another hero with Future Countdown, adds stat bonuses after four rounds. Neither ability is great, but the bruiser version of this uniform is excellent in PvP because the most common blaster in PvP is Human Torch, which means he can usually avoid the bruiser flaw.
