Overview – Magik is a character built around flexibility. Her abilities allow her to bypass almost any defense and to meaningfully attack almost any opponent. In exchange for this flexibility, her abilities are rather expensive, making it difficult for her to engage in long fights. She will almost always make her mark by the third round and if she doesn’t, she usually won’t do much at all.
How to Obtain – Magik could only be obtained by completing special operation 3. She can no longer be obtained in any way.
Special Abilities – Ruler of Limbo / Fiery Retribution – These two abilities increase Magik’s already respectable damage to incredibly high levels. The first ability randomly attacks when Magik attacks or is attacked by an enemy. The second ability randomly causes enemies to take fire damage when attacking or attacked. Both abilities can activate in the same attack and the Ruler of Limbo attack can activate Fiery Retribution, which can potentially cause massive damage quickly.
Soulsword (Level 1) – Soulsword is a relatively low stamina cost attack that deals moderate damage and ignores incorporeal and avoidance effects. This alone makes it a solid attack. The major advantage of Soulsword is that Magik gets a soul charge whenever she hits with it. Magik can store up to two soul charges at a time. Whenever Magik attacks with any attack other than Soulsword, she spends her soul charges to boost the power of that attack. Magik with two soul charges can unleash three of the best attacks in the game.
Unleash Hell (Level 2) – Despite the low damage of this attack, it is an excellent attack when used with two soul charges. With two soul charges, this attack puts two ongoing damage effects on the target, makes the target take extra damage from magic attacks, and removes all positive status effects on the target. The last part is the critical part since this is the only hero attack in the game that removes positive status effects from all enemies.
Stepping Disc (Level 6) – This is the highest damage single target attack Magik has, but the biggest benefit of this attack has nothing to do with the damage. This attack is a guaranteed hit that ignores avoidance effects and does not trigger counter attacks or guard abilities. If Magik has at least one soul charge, this attack also deals up to four status ailments on the target. That nice touch just makes an already excellent attack even better.
Soulflare (Level 9) – Like Unleash Hell, Soulflare is an attack that is truly impressive when Magik has two soul charges. At fewer than two soul charges it ignores defense and shield abilities, which can be critical against some enemies. At two soul charges it also makes all future attacks ignore defense against the target and, most importantly, it stuns 100% of the time when it hits. This stun percentage is very rare in the game and makes this attack critical when a dangerous enemy is about to act.
Unlocks – Magik is not currently needed to unlock any game content and is unlikely to be needed in the future to unlock game content.
PvP – Magik’s flexibility makes her an excellent PvP choice. She is particularly good against enemies using Spider-Man because she can either attack him to build up soul charges or use Stepping Disc to avoid his guard ability. Since many of her attacks avoid guard abilities or avoid defense, she is even reasonably effective against bruisers. Only mostly offensive bruisers like She-Hulk or Hulk give her a serious challenge, but they are increasingly rare in PvP.
Variant Uniforms – Magik does not currently have any variant uniforms.
