How bad do you want it?
As men we are always searching for the best things out of life whether we are single and searching for the right girl to spend our lives with, or the right automobile that shows us off, or if you’re married you may be searching for the best future for your family. Either way, it is inside of us to continuously feed our wants and desires regardless of our individual status.
Did you ever want a particular thing so bad that you would do almost anything to get it? I’m sure we can all relate to this regardless of what it was even if we had to apply for an in store credit card or apply for a loan at the bank we wanted it that bad without it your life would feel incomplete. My biggest downfall would have to be fishing items not just the occasional lure or maybe a new rod I mean the one hundred and fifty dollar combo sets and of course you can never have to many artificial lures, not because I save each one and mount beside the greatest catch ever but more because I either lose it going fishing or after I get there.
So in general the things we acquire are based on one simple question I guess you could say, and that would be; (How bad do you want it?). So let’s change course here and do a reality check on us.
Let’s say that you are not the guy with wants pertaining to automobiles, fishing gear, clothing, or other such materialistic things. What if you are a husband who has lost his job and on the verge of losing the family home, or you are a boyfriend or husband who has found themselves distancing themselves from their families, friends, and even church because of alcohol, drugs, maybe pornography, or stress from work, trying to find work, or the thought of being a failure. What if you are this guy and your mere expectations in life are to make it one more day?
Can I let you in on a secret? I have been there. I have been through the alcohol and the depression of failure in work and in family and wishing sometimes that one day would end and the next one would never begin and living inside a world of black and grey because I could see nothing in the future. But let me let you in on something else; I know someone who can fix you and give you the strength to fix everything else in your life. The BIG question is and I mean this is big, HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?
How bad do you want to live a life with peace inside and whether you are single or married you can face each day with a smile and courage that you have success in your life, the kind of success that inspires you to be a great father, or a great boyfriend, maybe a great son or brother. So what could you do to make this transition? Give it to God. Are you man enough to bow down on your knees and bow your head and ask God to forgive your past and come into your heart and change you into a better man?
Still think that coming to God is not manly? Let’s take a look at something from the book of Isaiah, go ahead it’s just reading. If you look at Isaiah chapter 53 you will see that Jesus was spoke of a long time prior to his birth, not only was he spoken of by the prophet Isaiah it was disclosed of how he would be hated by all man as found in verse 3, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” So there are many people who are despised for one reason or another that’s not manly huh. Let’s read on to verses 5 thru 8, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” So Jesus was whipped, beaten, stabbed, and betrayed for something he did not do (SIN). He was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities so that we could have peace? Would you take a beating to the point of death for say a stranger you saw walking down the highway? Probably not because you don’t know anything about them, so why would you? Jesus was first found guilty of being innocent, then beaten for being humble, and put to death for being life.
Now if that is not being man enough than nothing we will ever do is. Not only was he crucified for his family’s sake, he was crucified for the entire sake of the world, and why did he do such a thing? Look at John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
God so loved all of us that he did not want to loose a single one of us to our sins or the problems of this world, he loved us so much that he wanted men humble enough to serve him yet strong enough to stand up for him, so why us you ask? Why would God send his Son Jesus Christ to go through such a world where he would be tortured and crucified for people when he did not commit one single sin in his life? Why would God send his Son to show us how to live as men and to show us the desires of our hearts and where they should be while on this earth? Because he has shown us (How bad he wants us). See God wanted us so bad that he gave a part of himself to come and pay an eternal price for us. He came so that we would be able to escape our addictions in the world; he came that we could be better husbands and boyfriends, and sons or brothers. He came so that we may know life in peace and love more than we could ever love of ourselves, to give more than we could ever give of ourselves.
Any questions on what being a man is all about? Regardless of what you are going through, give your heart to God, lay your problems at his feet and humble yourself to his word and you will find out that with God in your daily life the things that use to dominate you and control your feelings and keep you stressed are nothing more than little specks in your life mirror. So again I ask you; (HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?)
