How I Improved My Weekly Fitness Routine by Canceling My Gym Membership

by pop tug

Recently, I canceled my gym membership after discovering a very effective fitness routine that could be implemented any day, anywhere. Now, my weekly fitness routines ranges from cardiovascular training to strength training exercises all with the absence of a gym!

Cardiovascular Training and Conditioning

From Monday through Thursday I run 2 miles around my neighborhood starting at 6:00am. I usually cool down by walking at least a half mile and am done with my morning run by 6:45am. I take Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to rest my joints and muscles in my lower body

Pectorals, Triceps, and Lats

I target my pectorals, triceps, and lats on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:00pm. I perform 3 sets of incline pushups, decline pushups, and regular pushups all with 10 repetitions each. I can easily use a bench or chair for decline and incline pushups and use the floor for regular pushups. These sets of pushups target mainly pectorals and triceps but can also really define your lats. It’s as easy as that!

Biceps, Shoulders, and Abdominals

I target my biceps, shoulders, and abdominals on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 7:00pm. I use a strength training resistance band, which can be bought at a local Wal-Mart.

For biceps and shoulders, I set my feet shoulder width apart in the middle of the resistance band and pull the outer ends of the resistance band up in a bicep curling motion or in a shoulder press motion. For me, this technique is just as effective as dumbbells, and I can change the resistance to my preference! I use 3 sets containing 10 repetitions for both exercises

For abdominals, I perform 5 sets of crunches with my feet up in the air. Each set contains a whopping 50 repetitions. At first, I had to start off with 15 repetitions. But, before I knew it, my core strengthened and naturally pushed for more repetitions!

A Better Quality and Quantity of Life

It’s no mystery regular fitness promotes a longer life and better health. I’ve experienced such a dramatic change mentally and physically since I’ve gotten rid of that pesky gym monthly premium. I really enjoy challenging my body by naturally using exercises we have used since our early primitive years. I no longer feel dependent on fancy machine weights or dumbbells.

After all my workouts my body and mind feel rejuvenated. I’m ready to take on the day in a much more productive effort than ever, resulting in a better quality and quantity of life.
