There’s nothing like a kisser that goes POW! Color-drenched lips can really define a look. But I find so many lipsticks go on full of color and disappear a few minutes later. I recently discovered two fantastic brands that make highly-pigmented lip colors that LAST. So read on, your lips will thank you!
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar – I was introduced to these lip colors with the striking name when I had a makeover at a party, and boy did my lips get attention! Lip Tars come in a tube and are meant to be applied with a lip brush. They are super-concentrated so just a dot will do for your whole lips. 36 shades of this high-impact color beckon you to mix it up to create your own custom shade (I like Beta and Queen together for a bright, pinky, tangerine color.)
The creamy color goes on smooth like a gloss but dries to a satin finish lipstick that stays put. The ingredients include Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E so they keep your lips feeling pretty moist, but you can add a gloss on top to give it extra shine without fear of the color slipping off. Another great thing about OCC makeup is that it’s 100% vegan and cruelty free!
NYX Xtreme Lip Cream – If you want a product that packs a lot of color for an affordable price, look no further than NYX. I received a sample of their Xtreme Lip Cream in a gift bag and couldn’t believe how it performed in my personal test run – also known as having it on all day at work. The color stayed put ALL DAY, even through lunch! I was so impressed I tracked them down at Ulta to buy more (at just under $10 each.)
My favorite shades are Strawberry Jam and Spicy for the rich, stain-like color. The more nude shade of Peach Fuzz didn’t seem to have the same stain effect due to less color pigmentation. This product comes with a sponge tip applicator,which works best when you pre-line your lips for definition and just fill in with color. This also helps prevent feathering.
