How to Get Perfect Dewy Skin with Your Makeup

by pop tug

We all want to get that flawless, dewy skin look with our makeup that celebrities like Eva Mendez and Zoe Saldana pull off effortlessly. It may seem like these women have to spend hours in the makeup chair every day, but in reality getting the dewy skin effect with your makeup is simple and fast! If you have ten minutes to spare in your morning routine, give these steps a go and you’ll find yourself with sexy, celebrity skin in a snap.

Step 1: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate.

Never underestimate the power of a good apricot face scrub! Getting your skin to look dewy begins from the bottom up, or in this case, with well cared-for skin. Exfoliating at least three times a week will help get rid of the dead cells on the surface of your skin which can make your face look dull, or even older. Invest in a good face scrub and gently exfoliate your skin with your fingertips for at least a full minute. Rinse, and you’ll find that your skin has a brighter, healthier glow!

Step 2: Use a light moisturizer

During the summer months it’s best to keep heavy moisturizers to a minimum. Creating a dewy makeup look requires a lightweight, water-based moisturizer over a freshly washed face. Getting the fresh-faced effect will be tough if your pores are clogged with gunk.

Step 3: Easy on the coverage

Use a light coverage concealer and foundation combination. Full coverage makeup tends to look cakey and can make your skin look dry-the exact opposite of what we’re going for with a dewy skin look! Begin with a light liquid concealer and dot sparingly over blemishes and dark circles. Blend outward with your middle or ring finger until it looks smooth. Then choose a light coverage liquid foundation. Put a dab on the back of your hand and then pick it up lightly with a kabuki makeup brush. Stipple the foundation lightly over your face, only on areas that require blending due to discoloration. The goal here is to use as light a hand as possible and let as much of your skin’s natural glow show through as you can. Remember, using liquid makeup is key for the dewy skin effect.

Step 4: Sheer blush

Choose a sheer blush or cheek stain to complete this look. You can either choose a liquid blush or a roll-on blush, either of which should be blended onto the apples of your cheeks moving backward. Sheer coverage blush will, much like the liquid makeup in step 3, allow your skin’s natural glow to shine through and will give the look a natural finish.

Getting a celebrity makeup look isn’t always as tough as it seems. We’re all pressed for time in the morning, but learning to use those minutes wisely can give result in a fabulous new you!
