What is an avatar at Neopets? It’s a small icon that can be used on your lookup as well as when you post on the Message Boards. You can get them through a random event, by participating in a site event, unlocking something within the site or any other number of ways. If you are a member of the site chances are you know what an avatar is and what it is used for. There are some that are illusive and people have been trying to crack them for the better part of the year. The “Wishing Well” avatar is one of them. Thankfully the Rubbish Avatar was cracked early; while it might sound tough to attain, it is easier than you think.
How do you get Neopets Rubbish Avatar? Discard 5,000 items using your Quick Stock option. You can do it one at a time but it is going to take you a while. If you are shopping for items and plan to donate them in lots you are going to want to skim the list to make sure you didn’t get items through Random Events or accidentally buy something that is worth more than a couple NP.
I’ve been a member of the site for 8 years and have gained 205 avatars so far; it can be fun to get the limited edition ones as well as being able to swap them on the Message Boards. I don’t actively go after some of the harder to attain avatars but I know people who do. There is a leader board for avatars but I have missed out on some of the limited edition ones so there is no way I will ever be able to catch up to them.
The Rubbish Avatar requires 5,000 items ‘discarded’; this is not the same as donating them to the Money Tree. A lot of people mistakenly started donating things to the Money Tree and didn’t get the avatar.
You can spend a lot of time buying worthless items to discard but if you have a packed Safety Deposit Box you might want to start by cleaning it out. There are a lot of cheap selling items that you can find on the Shop Wizard; I will break some of them in to manageable lists but I am sure that there are some that I will be missing. Some people thought that only “special” items could be used but those who have attained the avatar say otherwise.
Furniture: “Slime Covered Window”, “Money Tree Window”, “Spooky Nimmo Stained Glass Window”, “Finneus Stained Glass Window”, “Abysmal Window”, “Mummy Intruder Window”, “BOO Window”, “Orange Grundo Wardrobe”, “Orange Kreludan Bed”, “Orange Grundo Chair”, “Blue Moon Petpet Bed”.
Freebie Items: “Pinixy Keyring”, “Hifflo Yoyo”, “Kassegat Jig Saw Puzzle”, “Wooden Blocking Shield”, “Dipni Mug”, “Slime Covered Window”, “Geraptiku Snowglobe”, “Broken Fishing Pole”, “Broken Toy Sailboat”, “Rotten Berry”, “Rainbow Dung”, “Shiny Obsidian”, “Shiny Purple Cowry Shell”, “Moon and Star Stickies”. “Pile of Dung” is not something that you can donate to the Money Tree, I am not sure if it can be discarded.
Toys: “Yellow Lupe Plushie”, “Yellow Kougra Plushie”, “Green Cybunny Plushie”, “Blue Kacheek Plushie”, “Pirate Usuki Play Set”, “Blue Ixi Plushie”, “Pink Snorkle Usuki Set”, “Von Kougra Plushie”, “Headless Von Roo Plushie”, “Red Kazoo”, “Mystery Island Usuki Play Set”, “Krawk Island Usuki Play Set”, “Mallard Balloon”, “Toy Pirate Sword”, “Wind Up Potgatkerchi Toy”. You are going to want to Shop Wiz plushies before you discard them; some of them are worth a lot of NP.
Books: “Kiko Pop-Up Book”, “Gallant Gallions Comic”, “Ogrin Survivor”, “Yurble Tales”, “Mystery Of The Kougra Paw”, “Maraqua Colouring Book”, “More Than Carrot Cake”, “Meepit vs Feepit Game Guide”, “Peopatras Petpets”, “Day In The Life Of King Roo”, “Gallion Colouring Book”, “Babaa Tales” and “The Secret of Treasure Island”. “Water Logged Book” is another one but the prices on them have gone up for some strange reason.
Stamps: “Orange Draik Stamp”, “Master Vex Stamp”, “Mystery Island Heads Stamp”, “Captain Tuan Stamp”, “Haiku Stamp”, “Island Native Stamp”, “Anshu Stamp”, “Gelert Prince Stamp”, “Everlasting Crystal Apple Stamp”, “Roast Gargapple Stamp”, “Shenkuu Lunar Temple”. Make sure you add these stamps to your Stamp Album first, you can discard the left over ones if you want. Please remember that once you add a stamp to the album you can not remove it.
Grooming Items: “Golden Moon Comb”, “Snazzy Moon Comb”, “Evil Hair Clip”, “Illusens Comb”
Fishing Hole: “Giant Brown Kelp”, “Giant Red Kelp”, “Shimmery Seagrass”, “Prismatic Sea Fern”, “Spongy Algae”, “Magic Crystalline Kelp”, “Rotting Driftwood”, “Grey Sea Fern”, “Darigan Seaweed”, “Cinder Block Sea Fungus”, “Rockfish”, “Bucket of Sludge”, “Dull Grey Pearl”, “Enormous Fake Diamond”, “Giant Bath Plug”, “Old Rotten Left Boot”, “Old Rotten Right Boot”, “Old Rotten Left Shoe”, “Old Rotten Right Shoe”, “Old Rotten Left Sandal”, “Old Rotten Right Sandal”, “Rusty Old Can”. These are items that you can get from the Fishing Vortex once a day so hit that daily because you might get something ‘rare’ like a “Broken Bag of Neopoints”
Backgrounds: “Bone Vault Background”, “Raining Doughnuts Background”, “Courgette Field Background”
Tombola Items: “Tombola T-shirt”, “Tombola Visor”, “Tombola Pencil Sharpener”, “Tombola Keyring”
Snowballs: “Wet Snowball”, “Poison Snowball”, “Evil Snowball”, “Yellow Snowball”, “Peach Snowball”. There are some snowballs that are worth more than others so you are going to want to check the Shop Wizard before you start tossing them away or selling them in your shop.
Magic Items: “Lime Elixir”, “Ubikiberry Elixir”, “Juicy Elixir”, “Pale Elixir”. I would not suggest getting rid of Healing Potions as they do go up in price when there is an invasion or plot.
Foods: “Star Fish Sandwich”, “Snot Pizza Slice”, “Petrified Apple”, “Mystery Island Chocolate Milk Glass”, “Mutant Tigersquash”, “Mummified Ice Cream”, “Tanglepus”, “Baked Beans”, “Pimplepepper”, “Jellied Eggs”, “Sweetcorn With Tomato Sauce”, “Rotten Negg”, “Slime Sundae”, “Qando Pita”, “Pasta And Eyes”, “Box of Wheat Flakes”, “Rotten Tomato Salad”, “Mashed Potatoes And Mud”, “Worms And Dirt Sundae”, “Wartroot Snorkle Lollypop”, “Cup-O-Slime”, “Semolina”
If you think that you discarded more than 5,000 items you might want to check your Avatar list to see if you got it and missed the event on your screen. It should be all the way at the bottom of the list. This is not unattainable and it is not something that needs to be done in one day; if you have discarded things in the past some of them may count towards the avatar depending on how long ago they were discarded.
