I was on TV – Youtoo TV! Sort Of

by pop tug

I have submitted my Fame Spot and have had three of my Social Shouts on Youtoo TV! What are Fame Spots, Social Shouts and Youtoo TV? Social Networking has taken another leap; this time onto the boob tube!

Youtoo TV is a cable channel available in many markets that dubs itself “the world’s first Social TV Network”. Playing reruns of older shows such as the X Files, Batman, and the Green Hornet, the network also airs a variety of original shows. If you do not have Youtoo TV yet, it may be coming to your area soon. You can call or submit a request on their web site for it to be added to your cable line-up.

What is so interesting about this Social TV Network is that viewers have a chance to appear on TV! Offering opportunities through their web site, Android or IOS apps, Youtoo TV provides three options to for viewers to be on TV. So, I could not resist giving it a shot!

Fame Spots

First, there are Fame Spots which are 15-second videos that viewers create by answering a posted question that will appear during the TV show of their choice. I answered the question “if you could be any animal, which one would it be” using their app on my iPad. The video was then automatically uploaded to Youtoo TV for review and I was notified via email when it was approved. Although I received approval for my Fame Spot within an hour, it did not air during the X Files that night as I had hoped. I am currently still waiting for it to air; it has been approximately one month now.

Social Shouts

The second way to appear on Youtoo TV is using Social Shouts. I actually had luck with this one! Social Shouts are basically text messages that you upload to the web site or app. They appear on TV at the bottom of the screen in the “Social Stream” during your TV show of choice and can even include your name if you choose. I created three different messages that appeared during the X Files the same night at certain points in the show. I have to admit, it was a little exciting to see my messages on TV!

Peoplemercials

Third, Youtoo TV offers Peoplemercials. These are 30-second, commercial-like spots that viewers create similar to the Fame Spots. However, instead of answering a question, videos can include pretty much anything from marriage proposals to the promotion of a web site or business. I stayed away from this one because I had nothing to announce on TV, but I can see it being very useful and fun!

Youtoo TV’s web site also uses social media popularity to offer Friends, Profiles and communications between viewers online who have registered – similar to Facebook.

So, as you can see I was on TV – sort of. I will continue to wait for the email stating that my Fame Spot will appear during my favorite show. In the meantime, I will continue to watch great reruns and check out everyone else’s Fame Spots, Social Shouts and Peoplemercials.
