COMMENTARY | Immigration Customs Enforcement is a federal agency you probably never heard of yet it has an estimated budget for fiscal year 2012 (which began Oct. 1, 2011) of $5.8 billion.
This budget now covers access to abortions for illegal aliens if pregnant.
ICE says, “Abortion Access. In the event continued detention is necessary and appropriate, and consistent with the practice of our federal partners, if the life of the mother would be endangered by carrying a fetus to term, or in the case of rape or incest, ICE will assume the costs associated with a female detainee’s decision to terminate a pregnancy.”
We are going beyond saying that the woman has a right to an abortion when she gets home but we are saying we the people will pay for and perform the abortion here in America before sending her home. God bless America!
But I heard in the debates that there is a federal statute prohibiting the use of tax payer money to fund abortion.
The Hyde Amendment is a legislative provision barring the use of certain federal funds to pay for abortions. It is not a permanent law though, it is a rider that, has been routinely attached to annual appropriations bills since 1976. The Hyde Amendment applies only to funds allocated by the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services. It primarily affects Medicaid. Because the Hyde Amendment restricts only the funds provided under the appropriations measure it would not seem to apply h ere.
The “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” would make this illegal. This bill was introduced in January 2011 and is still pending. It has passed the house of representatives in May 2011 but has to be ratified by the senate and signed by the president. You can follow its progress here.
To make this even crazier we will now be using tax payer money to pay for hormone therapy for self described transgender aliens.
ICE states, “screening shall … inquire into a transgender detainee’s gender self-identification and history of transition-related care, when a detainee self-identifies as transgender.”
If the self-professed illegal alien transgender detainee has been receiving hormone therapy on the outside, ICE will give it to him/her on the inside, at your expense!
“All transgender detainees shall have access to mental health care, and other transgender-related health care and medication based on medical need. Treatment shall follow accepted guidelines regarding medically necessary transition-related care.”
The federal government is using your money to fund abortions and hormone therapy for people that have no right to be in this country in the first place.
The fact of the matter is we have to dramatically cut government spending.
We need more politicians that are willing to break our country’s addiction to government spending. Our current president in two years has effected a permanent federal government spending increase of at least 16.5 percent which is $452 billion.
The “conservatives” have failed to find someone to take on this spending giant. After Super Tuesday their favored candidate is Mitt Romney who seems about as small government as FDR. He supported the $700 million dollar TARP bailout and created the individual mandate while Governor of Massachusetts. His current economic plan shows no intent to address government spending besides repealing the Affordable Care Act (which he previously supported) and converting Medicaid to a block grant. He proposes no other cuts.
It seems the only candidate showing an actual budget cutting economic plan is being ignored. I am talking about Ron Paul, who has outlined a principle based plan to cut $1 trillion his first year in office and actually balance the countries budget in three years. This bold plan was released to the public on his website a full month before the first primary election. Unfortunately, it seems Paul’s message of small government is overshadowed by the conservatives desire for a more aggressive foreign policy leaving him lagging behind Romney.
Our country has a deficit larger than its GDP. The U.S. government spends $121,067 per second because we pay for ridiculous things like abortion and hormone therapy for illegals. We can’t afford to continue this. The U.S. government borrows $52,162 each second!
This is why you’re broke.
