Truth is the first casualty in both war and political campaigns, but Romney takes it too far. It takes seconds to discover and then refute his hypocrisy.
It makes me remember so many flim-flam men I have been forced to deal with in my life. Since I’m a baby-boomer I have had to deal with a lot of them.
Romney says that President Obama is violating President Clinton’s welfare policy. President Clinton says that Romney isn’t accurate. It is as simple as that.
When the flim-flam men try to sell you a beachfront property it isn’t in the city you are in. How incompetent are these Romney people in that they pick Democratic President Clinton as the final arbiter of this ploy? Since President Clinton is of the same party as President Obama, President Clinton would side with President Obama no matter what. Romney’s team is trying to sell you beachfront property across the street and you live in a desert.
The U.S. mainstream media gave Romney a pass on his signing SEC papers saying he was C.E.O. of Bain after he said he resigned as articulated in the article “The Democrats Are Not Swift Boating the GOP”which illustrated how Romney’s surrogate had to trot out the mind boggling “retroactive resignation” phrase. Somehow that single phrase wasn’t repeated forever. Remember the play that Obama’s “You didn’t build that” phrase-which was taken out of context, got? Why didn’t the U.S. mainstream media give “retroactive resignation” the same play?
Now Romney is seeing if this latest scam will get some traction.
The article “Romney attacks Obama over welfare reform” details the ineptness of the Romney campaign.
The article states “Mitt Romney sought to inject welfare as an issue in the presidential campaign here Tuesday, accusing President Obama of dismantling federal welfare reform and creating a “culture of dependency.”
The article notes that Romney, when he was Governor of Massachusetts wanted far more changes to the welfare law in 2005 than President Obama wants now, but of course Romney doesn’t want his record as Governor of Massachusetts to be considered. Romney is telling us that we have to forget about his employment in Bain as well. What can we look at to see what his record is?
The article states regarding a conference call with reporters regarding this welfare matter “John Podesta, former chief of staff to President Clinton, said the Obama administration was “trying to administer the [welfare] program in a tougher economic condition and trying to accomplish the goal of giving people the dignity of a job.”
The article states ‘Of Romney, Podesta added: “I’m always happy when people embrace the new Democratic policies of President Clinton. I just wish they would tell the truth when doing so.”
How much research do you have to do to know that Romney is using code words to rile up his base?
You don’t have to do any if you are a baby-boomer. Doesn’t “culture of dependency” sound ominous? It doesn’t to me, because I, like the rest of us baby-boomers, remember its precursor-Reagan’s “welfare queen” which the article “Republicans and Race” illustrates.
Romney has one intention in this ploy. He wants to fire up his base and saying that President Obama wants people to get welfare without having to receive training or a job will do that excellently. Romney isn’t going to get the votes for people who are on welfare so he doesn’t care if his remarks offend them.
There has been a pattern of shocking incompetence by Romney’s team in this presidential election.
