Moral Decency is fading!
Many countries in the world receive Christianity as their religion. Aside from ‘Glory’ and ‘Gold’, the Spaniards introduced to the world ‘God’ to us. We were taught about religious traditions and ceremonies, among these are: going to church, reading the Holy Bible, praying the Rosary, obeying the Ten Commandments of God and among others.
Our ancestors uphold customs and these have been passing from generations to another. Having been gifted with such a religion means honoring the virtue of morality-moral decency.
Moral Decency plays a vital role in keeping humanity. Without it, all is mess!
Decency covers vast aspects. It just does not mean wearing of formal dress, it is more on properly behaving in a certain situation. One achieves moral decency by knowing every word he is about to say to get rid of hurting others. He chooses the right time when to say something to avoid being offensive. One brings decency through working diligently on his job. Does not complain most often just for the sake of easier work but instead making every second worth paying. One becomes decent by simply honoring his parents and teachers. Being decent makes a person identify what are right things from those bad. In short, becoming decent comes differently.
People nowadays, sadly lost their track towards it. Moral Decency is fading! Sex Scandals availability in the internet and even in markets, same sex marriage, seductive clothes of both genders, foul attitudes of youths, teen pregnancy. These and a lot more manifest that moral decency indeed deteriorates.
I wonder why decency vanishes especially on most youths. Is it all because of the power of delinquency and that the government lacks attention on this sector? More and more youths are influence becoming delinquents every tickle of the hand of the clock. These delinquent youths are suspects of rampant rape cases, drug abuse, stealing and more that are evident in our society.
“Youths are the hope of our motherland”, one of the famous adage of Filipino patriot, Dr. Jose Rizal, though echoing it back from so many articles about youth, still it’s effective. And to see that our country badly needs us for world- building, decency problem should be remedied.
It does not mean that we lost chances. We never had ran-out of chances. Yes, it’s too late yet we can still make a difference. Let us start in each of ourselves in solving this problem for the betterment of our province, country, world and humanity.
