Do you remember watching “Josie and the Pussycats” as a child? I sure do. As a child, I loved the television show. I also remember when the movie came out years later. For me, the movie was a real disappointment. Nonetheless, it did spark a new interest in the old series with many tweens. Thus, you may want to consider incorporating a “Josie and the Pussycats” theme into your next party. With that said, here’s a quick look at a few party favor ideas that would work with such a theme:
Pussycat Ears and Tails
In the original series, Josie, Melody and Valerie wore cat ear headbands and cat tails. Thus, you may want to consider giving your party guests one of each. Although there are costume shops that sell cat ear headbands and tails, I would suggest that you make your own. That way, you can be sure that they look more like the ones that the pussycats wore in the television show.
I have found that making the headbands and tails is easy. In order to make them, you will need blank headbands, animal print felt, a hot glue gun, polyester batting and a sewing machine. Once you have your supplies on hand, there are multiple videos and articles posted online that will walk you through the process of making the ears and tails.
Band Themed Chocolate
In my opinion, assorted chocolates in the shape of the Pussycats’ musical instruments would make excellent party favors too. For example, Confectionary House sells a super lollipop mold that will produce a drum set similar to the one used by the character Melody in the television show. The drum set mold typically retails for $3. You could also create additional lollipops in the shape of a guitar and a tambourine. Once you have all of your lollipops made, I’d suggest placing them inside animal print cello bags and tying the bags shut with animal print ribbons.
Animal Print Stationary Set
I have found that animal print stationary also makes a great themed party favor for tweens. There are multiple party supply shops and discount stores that sell animal print pencils, note pads, stickers and pencil cases. Of course you’ll want to select ones that closely resemble the characters original outfits. In most cases, a dozen of the stationary sets will set your finances back by about $8.
Fashion Accessories
Lastly, I’d suggest that you consider giving your guests animal print fashion accessories. Examples include tiger print change purses, cheetah print slap bracelets and leopard print bandanas. You can typically purchase such items for a reasonable fee at department stores, discount stores and party supply retailers.
