Jumbled Letter Wall Art

by pop tug

Supplies:
Wooden letters (paint or accents for these are optional)
or
Sticker or decal letters
or
Other types of letters
Picture hangers or other fasteners (not needed for decal or sticker letters)

Anyone can create a particular type of wall art where letters are the main attraction. Whether you use jumbled letters as art, or as an unusual headboard, you’ll be able to put your own spin on the design when you choose from assorted letter sizes and types, colors and positions, to create an arrangement made just for you. Colorful or demure, huge or small, the wall words will be what people notice when they see the room.

Make jumbled letters over a bed, across a mantle, above a dresser, or on a blank wall. When you use wooden letters from a craft or home improvement store you have many choices for size and type. And, when you choose between leaving a letter as-is (unfinished wood), or painting it, you have even more options. Primer each letter and then give it two coats of paint. Besides paint – or along with paint – you can cover letters in wallpaper, scrapbook paper, or other types. You can also use colored or metallic tape to create other accents. Use rubber stamping techniques to make even more designs.

Who knows how many different designs can be made when you do this craft? Combine large letters, small ones, skinny letters, bubble letters, colored ones, and plain, to create the arrangement that you dream of. Just mount the letters, randomly, on the wall. Put some letters close together; mount some of them so that they’re far apart. Put one letter inside another, like a tiny “t”, inside a giant “O”. Use some thin letters so that they hug the wall, and some thick letters, so that they are further away from the surface. You can even glue wooden pegs on the backs of some letters, so that they’ll protrude from the wall. For other letters, use glue strips, which you can find at any craft or home improvement place, or hang each letter with a picture hanger.

Besides wooden letters, you can use ceramic ones, wrought iron types, stickers, decals, or even drawn letters. However, for the most uniform look, for all wooden letters, all stickers, or all of another type. Besides letters you can also use numbers, ampersands, and even punctuation marks. Make jumbled letters from your name, a town, a hobby, or another choice. The jumbled letter art is definitely an attention-getter.
