The International pop singer Justin Bieber was snubbed at the Grammy awards. His Manager and label owner Scooter Braun were taken aback. The slight on Bieber quickly made International news; even the Arabic world got news of the slight. The Saudi Gazette quoted Bieber’s manager, “The kid delivered. Huge successful album, sold out tour, and won people over… this time he deserved to be recognized and I don’t really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision i don’t agree with.”
Scooter Braun could not understand why Bieber was not nominated. However, according to Billboard.com, his manager stated, “I wasn’t mad, just voicing my opinion,” “I saw a lot of chatter online and made a comment. I don’t think there was anything wrong with any other nomination. I just felt Justin deserved to be acknowledged.”
Bieber’s fans were certainly angry over the situation. The UK OMG Yahoo site reports that thousands of Justin’s fans also shared the same sentiment as Beiber’s manager, causing #BieberDeservesAGrammy and #NoBieberNoGrammys to trend on Twitter worldwide.
Billboard.com goes on to say a representative for Bieber said when he learned his “Believe,” the fifth biggest-selling album of 2012, was passed over he went into the study to write sessions.
Many artists are left out of the nominations; it is simple logic that not everyone can be nominated no matter how good they are. However, Justin Bieber’s rise to the top has been quick and no matter how talented he is he cannot be nominated all the time.
Justin is doing very well psychologically over this matter so far. He had to be just as shocked as his manager when he found out he was not nominated. Perseverance and stamina is what keeps an artist on top. Not succumbing to negative reporting in the media is also very important. According to Hubpages, “in attempting to maintain a particular image, celebrities may repress rage, fear or sadness caused by negative or excessive media coverage, which may lead to psychological and physical damage.”
Paul Grein who blogs for Music Canada stated,” I hope Bieber is smart enough to realize the reason the media zeroes in on him is that he’s one of the biggest and buzziest names out there. It would be worse if you didn’t get any Grammy nominations and nobody thought twice about it. Put that way, this week’s focus on Bieber was really recognition of his popularity and front-running status. That’s probably not as good as a Grammy nomination, but it will have to do.”
Celebrities have to roll with the punches. They cannot let the disappointments get them down. Justin Bieber appears to be showing the recipe for success by getting back to his work and continuing his career.
