One of the most recognizable faces currently in the media is Katie Holmes, aka Mrs. Tom Cruise. Some reports refer to Katie Holmes as an A-list star, but does Katie Holmes really fall into the A-list category as a star? Certainly, Holmes’ soon-to-be ex-husband rates the A-list star status. Tom Cruise has delivered some stellar performances to earn his star status, and Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes likely boosted Holmes’ ratings as a rising star. Even So, Katie Holmes has yet to secure her fame with an unforgettable performance in the movie world. Holmes enjoyed some success on Dawson’s Creek, and she has appeared in other roles, as well, including her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy. However, Holmes has yet to skyrocket to fame in any other role, except for her role as Mrs. Tom Cruise, and Holmes has now ditched that famous role, so what next?
Will Holmes’ current fame as the woman who ditched A-list star Tom Cruise help secure premium opportunities in the movie industry, or will her split from Cruise lessen her earning potential. Onlookers seem to be as interested as ever in Holmes as she moves into her role as a divorced woman. Are onlookers really interested in Holmes as a person, or are onlookers merely curious as to the reason (and the details) behind Holmes’ swift move to divorce Tom Cruise? Even if Holmes’ current fame scores her some big pay days, will her acting ability place her at the top of the industry as far as memorable (and bankable) stars? All these questions and more place a heavy load on Holmes’ shoulders because Holmes may now get the chance at some premium roles, an opportunity she may not have otherwise gotten without her marriage to Tom Cruise. Holmes will have to deliver the performances in any role she does get to secure her A-list star status.
Delivering memorable performances in premium roles may be no easy task for Katie Holmes. Her marriage to Tom Cruise and her position as mother to Suri seems to have put acting on the back burner for Holmes. Given this, Holmes may still have a lot to learn before she can skyrocket to A-list fame, and she will even have to dust off the acting skills she currently holds before she can improve. Holmes also may have some choices to make as to whether or not she wants to revert back to the tongue-protruding, good-girl image she advertised before her marriage to Cruise. She may decide to stay with trying to appear as a polished, Victoria-Beckham lookalike, but will either choice serve Holmes well as she sets out to further her career? Holmes may want to work on creating a complete new image for herself, one that distances her from her two previous images.
