The recent news that led to fashion frenzy was when Macy’s announced its partnership with the Italian designer Alberta Ferretti for its contemporary “Impulse” department. After working successfully with Karl Lagerfeld, Giambattista Valli, and most recently Doo.Ri, the retailer is on a roll with its new collection. According to a press release back in February, Jeff Gennette, Macy’s chief merchandising officer said, “An irresistible combination of bohemian styling and figure-conscious silhouettes, the Alberta Ferretti for Impulse collection will strike just the right chord with our Impulse customer.” The collection that Alberta Ferretti calls “fresh and bright” inspired by her “beautiful country” will include outfits ranging from $49 to $119.
The much-anticipated preview of the clothes was recently presented online and already has fashionitas drooling. The clothes are affordable, aesthetic and feminine. Check out some of the trends that absolutely stand out in the Alberta Ferretti Impulse for Macy’s Fashion Collection. Take a cue from the following and narrow down your must-haves when it hits in approximately 185 Macy’s stores nationwide and online beginning April 17.
Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s collection transports you to the popular Amalfi Coast of Southern Italy with its hues and silhouettes. The long maxi dresses are breezy and dreamy and instantly conjure images of sandy beaches, cloudless skies and bluish-green water. For instance, this braided blue maxi is summery and can be worn to the beach, a casual meeting with friends or for running an afternoon errand for the family. Pair it with gladiator sandals for a daytime look or for a more formal meet, add height with heels.
The Bold and the Beautiful
In line with the current trend, Alberta Ferretti presents hues that are bold and beautiful. Along with selections in bright teal, the gorgeous work of Alberta Ferretti in royal blue, shocking pink and in orange will leave you gasping for more.
The collection exudes femininity and is elegant and conservative. Styles are traditional with not-too-plunging necklines and not-too-short hemlines. The clothes can be easily adapted across ages for a taste that is oh-so-classy! For instance,Ferretti keeps the turquoise and pink wrap-style chiffon dress feminine with aesthetic details, conventional neckline and an easily-adaptable hemline – making it a go-to choice for women of all ages.
A glance at the collection and you’ll realize the wide audience it caters to. While some styles are on the traditional side, there are others that are super cute and sexy – perfect for young adults (or those young-at-heart!) Ideal for summer is this personal favorite strapless frock featuring a sedate color palette, bold floral print and ruched detailing.
Prints play a main part in Ferretti’s collection and the one that stands out is the floral. Who won’t fall in love with this elegant floral maxi that features bold hues, fitted waist and embellished neckline?
Well, if the collection is for the young, it certainly has enough choices for the grave. From crochet tops to gorgeous peasant blouses, one has plenty of options to play with. Although conventional, the designer adds aesthetic detailing that highlights the versatility of her designing talents. Ladies can use this tan bell sleeve knitwear and style it with capris or pants to create a classy ensemble.
What draws me to the Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s collection is the ethereal feel. There is nothing over-the-top about the whole collection making it a must-have for the everyday fashionista. The lines are crisp and simple, the prints are trendy and the fabrics are summer perfect. The designer recognizes the needs of common fashionista and keeps her collection versatile. Most of her clothes can be worn down for a shopping escapade or up for a casual evening out.
According to Reardon, Macy’s executive vice president of marketing, “…while the majority of the collection is targeted to women between the ages of 26 to 29, there’ll be lots to love for women of all ages.” Remember, the collection hit Macy’s stores and online on April 17 and will be available for 10 weeks only.
