Ladainian Tomlinson’s so Fly Retirement Bash in Dallas

by pop tug

When I saw the invitation for LaDainian Tomlinson’s So Fly retirement bash I knew I had to be in attendance. The list of confirmed guest was reminiscent of a Super Bowl party and listed all of the who’s who in Dallas. I was also excited because LT is one of the best running backs ever to play in the NFL.

Upon arrival, however, I was a tad bit disappointed. Honestly, my disappointment stemmed from the fact that I’m a spoiled brat and I’m use to getting my way. At this event I was not getting my way because the “media pass” that they gave me didn’t give me access to the VIP area upstairs and it appeared that everybody who was anybody was making there way to a totally separate party upstairs. To be fair about the party downstairs, I did meet some really great people, including my new friend the midget FedEx truck driver (she wasn’t really little people, she was 5 ft).

The event was held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum which is a beautiful building that was wonderfully laid out. Unfortunately, their promotions failed to fill the downstairs area which left a number of people complaining about the event. The bad thing about large spaces is that even if you get 200 people in attendance it looks like 50.

LT showed up around midnight with his beautiful wife Torsha and what appeared to be two bus loads of friends and family. He was escorted upstairs after a host of interviews and red carpet pictures (technically it was a football field style carpet that led to a purple carpet which gave homage to his college days at TCU. Go Horn Frogs!). It was at this time that I was given the opportunity to experience the real party.

Upstairs was a totally different atmosphere complete with my two favorite things, food and beautiful women. Chicken and Waffles, Tacos and drinks sponsored by Patron made upstairs a way better experience than what was going on downstairs. I finally saw all the celebrities in attendance which included Spinderella, Dawn Neufeld whom was working with D210 TV and somebody even told me that Plaxico Burress was in the building but I didn’t personally see him. My personal favorite celebrity was the always stunning Linda Brenner from the Lingerie Football League. It goes without saying that where there are ballers there will be boppers. This became more and more evident as the performances started about one O’clock. Devin the Dude, Slim Thug and Bun B all performed their hits and dedicated their shows to the man of the hour. The performance times may have been the only time that the people up stairs actually mingled downstairs with the “common folk”.

I asked 10 people what they thought about the party and the 5 people downstairs rated it either a 1 or a 2 out of 5 stars but everyone upstairs rated it a 4 or a 5. Unfortunately, I can’t rate it as two different events so I am going to rate it a 3 out of 5. I personally had a blast and even had the opportunity to catch up with some old friends from Texas Christian University where LT and I went to College.

Here is what was said on twitter about the event:
