The Advent of Morrighan
Mabinogi online has one of the most epic story lines in MMO history, but a lot of players have a hard time getting through the Generation story quest. In this quest guide we will help you get through all of the Generation 1 quests: the Advent of Morrighan. This quest series is only for human characters, meaning the Elves and Giants cannot complete this quest series; however they can help in dungeons by joining your team. You can start this quest series simply by logging into the game as a human character and reaching level 5, which will trigger a cut scene of the Goddess asking you for help. Instead of breaking this guide into parts, we will have it in one, massive, complete walkthrough guide for you. The quest series is very long, and can sometimes be a bit complicated, so hopefully this guide will help you get through the parts that you get stuck on.
Because this guide is so long I have broken it down into chapters. Use your browser’s “Find on this page” (also called Find) function to locate the chapter you want to view. Simply copy the chapter name from below, past it into find, and press enter. This system creates an easy way to jump to the chapter you want in case you stopped in the middle of the guide.

Ready? Alright, let’s go!
- 1. Finding the lost earring
After walking around in game for a few minutes, an owl will fly by and drop you your first quest. Your first task will be to head North into the fields of Sidhe Sneachta to find a lost earring. If you don’t know where this is, Sidhe Sneachta is located in Tir Chonaill to the north west. Now in the updated versions of the game the Snowman is a lot easier to find. It is the one with 16 teeth and a glowing sparkling head, you can’t miss it. Beat the snowman up until he gives you the earring and then make your way back to Tir Chonaill. You will need to talk to Duncan, the town’s chief to complete the quest.
- 2. Tarlach the bear
In the updated version of Mabinogi talking to the snowman now gives you some free mana herbs, which you will need for your next quest. You will now need to head back to Sidhe Sneachta and go through the gate into the next area. Continue running north until you see a bear named Tarlach. Pick up one mana herb at a time and give them to the bear until you run out. Eventually he will give you the keyword “Tarlach”. Once you get the keyword run back to town and talk to Duncan using this new keyword. Duncan will now give you a second keyword “three missing heroes”.
- 3. Getting more information
For story reasons you can use this keyword to talk to other Non playable characters (NPCs) to get a bit of back story about the three heroes, or you can skip ahead and talk to Lassar who will progress the quest forward. Lassar will ask you to run to Dunbarton and talk to Stewart, talk to him using the “three missing heroes” keyword. Stewart will give you a locket quest item and a warp wing back to Alby dungeon. This is a Role play quest (RP), and you can have a total of three people for this dungeon. Drop the locket on the altar and start the dungeon run, don’t worry the dungeon is really easy. You and your team will play as Tarlach, Mari, and Ruairi. After the RP quest is complete you will gain the keyword “Goddess Morrighan”. Return to Tir Chonaill and talk to Duncan using the new keyword, he will ask you to go inside the town’s church and talk to priest Meven about the “Goddess Morrighan”. Meven will give you yet another keyword “Night of Sidhe Sneachta”, and a book about how the Goddess turned to stone. Make your way to Sidhe Sneachta, but this time go during the night time, which is 6:00 PM or later (6:00 AM is morning and you will miss your chance). During the night Tarlach the bear will turn into Tarlach the human, talk to him using “Night of Sidhe Sneachta”. human Tarlach will give you the keyword “The land of Tir Na Nog” (we call it TNN for short).
- 4. What is Tir Na Nog?
Tarlach will ask you to get more information about TNN and will ask you to run to the Dunbarton bookstore. The bookstore is run by the NPC Aeira, talk to her using the keyword “The land of Tir Na Nog”, she will tell you that she doesn’t have the book in stock, so talk to her one more time and she will tell you that she will order the book and will let you know when it arrives. Wait a few hours in game time. Eventually an owl will fly by and drop you a quest to talk to Aeira again to receive the book. Now that you have the book run all the way back to Tir Chonaill and read the book in detail. In case you don’t know how, if you right click on the book there is actually an option to “Read in detail”. Reading books in detail has a chance to fail, so keep trying to read it until you have successfully read the book. When you do you will gain the keyword “Paradise”. Now wait for night time and return back to Tarlach in Sidhe Sneachta and talk to him using the keyword “Paradise”. Tarlach will give you a special brown fomor pass for the Barri dungeon and a red wing to warp you there. If you talk to Tarlach again using the same keyword he will give you more passes in case you fail the dungeon.
- 5. Inside Barri dungeon
Barri dungeon is located in the town of Bangor, but if you use the red wing you will teleport straight to the dungeon’s lobby. This is not a standard dungeon, it is a special one. For low level players this can be a bit difficult so I recommend you bring some friends with you. The monsters consist of King mimics, Brown gremlins, Gray gremlins, Green gremlins, Sickl Laghodessa, Flying swords, and Giant worms. The boss is a Black wizard with 8 wisps floating around. However there is news that in the updated version of the game there are only 3 wisps instead of 8. Inside one of the reward chests there is a Fomor medal, you will also receive the keyword “Fomor medal”. You will now need to show this medal to each priest from each town. Inside the town of Bangor there is a young priest named Comgan, since you are already here talk to him using the “Fomor medal” keyword. Now run to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell the priestess using the same keyword, after her make you way all the way back to Tir Chonaill and talk to priestess Endelyon with the “Fomor medal” keyword, however Endelyon doesn’t know what it is and will ask you to talk to Meven instead. Go inside the church and talk to Meven using the “Fomor medal keyword, he will give you the keyword “Priest’s token”. Talk to Meven again using the “Priest’s token” keyword and he will ask you to head to the Alby arena and talk to Goro the goblin.
- 6. Goro’s lost ring
In order to get to the arena you will need to buy an arena coin from Ronald the Tir Chonaill school teacher, and drop this coin on the Alby dungeon altar. When you reach the arena, use the “Priest’s token” keyword to talk to Goro and he will give you Goro’s special Ciar dungeon pass to find his lost ring (this is given to you by a quest owl). This dungeon is a solo run, so you will not be able to have help with this mission. But the good news is that it is almost the same as Ciar beginner. The lost ring will drop from the Reward chest at the end of the dungeon. Make your way back to the Alby arena and return the ring back to Goro to complete the quest. You will now receive the keyword “Dul brau dairam Shanon”. But what does it mean?
Leave the dungeon and return to Tarlach and talk to him using this new mysterious keyword. After talking to Tarlach he will ask you to return back to Goro, again use the keyword “Dul brau dairam Shanon”, this time Goro will tell you to talk to the former succubus. Make your way to the Dunbarton Church and talk with Kristell using the keyword “Dul brau dairam Shanon” to gain more information.
- 7. Learning about Tarlach’s Past
After you talk to Kristell she will hand you a red goddess wing and a special “Tarlach’s glasses pouch” item, and will ask you to go to Rabbie dungeon. Drop the item and run the special RP quest dungeon. In this dungeon you will play as Tarlach, he is a mage with Firebolt, Lightning bolt, Icebolt, defense, and a healing spell. The dungeon itself isn’t very difficult if you are good at playing a mage, so the monsters shouldn’t be a problem for you. You will not be able to run this dungeon with any team members, this is a solo quest. For the boss monster the easiest way to defeat her is with a fully charged firebolt attack. After you complete the dungeon you will be given a new keyword called “Kristell’s past”. You’ll know why when you actually play the game. Return back to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell to learn about her past history. You will now receive the new keyword “Kristell’s message”, and she will ask you to talk to Tarlach for her. Make your way to Tarlach at Sidhe Sneatcha, wait for night fall, and talk to him using the new keyword to relay Kristell’s message. Tarlach will hand you a book and will ask you to give it to Kristell so that she can translate the text for him. You will need to return to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell, then complete the mission in your quest log.
I am not completely sure about the time, but you will need to wait several hours in game for your next quest, it might even take a day or two (game time) before the quest drops, so don’t bother just standing around for it.
- 8. A gift from Tarlach
After you receive the quest, talk to Kristell in Dunbarton to gain the translated book. She will tell you that she won’t give you the book unless Tarlach is there in person to take the book. Run back to human Tarlach and talk to him about Kristell’s request for him to show up in person. Tarlach will ask you to talk to priest Meven in the Church of Tir Chonaill. After you talk to Meven he will ask you to talk to Lasser in the Tir’s magic school to make an item for him. Before you leave him, open your quest log and complete the quest to receive the keyword “Meven’s request”.
Now you can go and talk to Lassar in the magic school and give her “Meven’s request”. Lassar will tell you that she will need a few items first, and will ask you to bring her back some holy water. If you already have enough holy water then you will complete the quest, if not talk to Endolyon and do a part time job to gain some more holy water. Use the “Meven’s request” keyword to hand Lassar the water, and she will tell you that when the item is ready that she will contact you with an owl. Don’t go far, just wait a few hours in game time until the owl drops the quest, then return and talk to Lassar, she will give you a black rose. Now you will have to talk to human Tarlach again. Once he sees the rose he will ask you to deliver it to Kristell for him. Make your way back to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell, no need to use a keyword, the event triggers automatically if you have to rose with you. When she sees the rose she will hand you the translated book, which you will need to “Read in Detail” to gain the new keyword “Mores”.
- 9. Who is Mores?
The only person who can tell you more is Duncan, the chief in Tir Chonaill. Talk to him using the “Mores” keyword and he will update it to “Mores Gwydion”. If you want to know who this Mores fellow is, make your way to human Tarlach in Sidhe Sneatcha and talk to him using the “Mores Gwydion” keyword to receive a new keyword “Mores’ lost property”. After you are done talking to Tarlach return to Dunbarton and this time talk to Eavan about Mores’ lost property. Eaven will tell you that she just gave the item to Kristell at the church, so go talk to Kristell using the same keyword. Kristell will give you Mores’ broken torque. This item is a special dungeon drop, so make your way to Math dungeon and drop the broken torque on the altar to start the RP quest. Just like the last quest with Tarlach, this time you will play Mores. They are both similar with their skills because they are both mages. Mores has a special “chain cast” ability so that once you use a spell it will automatically charge to the max limit. Obviously with the chain cast spell this dungeon is very easy and you should have no problem getting through to the end.
When you complete the dungeon you will receive the keyword “Morrighan’s revenge”.
Run back to Dunbarton and go inside the magic school to talk to Stewart using the new keyword, he will shed some knowledge on what he thinks about this situation, and will tell you to ask Kristell about it. Go talk to Kristell using the “Morrighan’s revenge” keyword, and she will tell you a bit more about it. Sadly it is not enough information, and you will now need to run all the way back to Tir Chonaill and talk to Duncan about it using the exact same keyword.
- 10. Learning about the book of revenge
Shortly after talking to Duncan an owl will drop a new quest called “The book of revenge”. Talk to Duncan about it and he will tell you that he wants to read the book and that Tarlach currently has it. Go talk to human Tarlach to gain the book of revenge item, then run back to Duncan so that he can read the book (lazy old man).
Duncan will tell you that he can read the entire book because it is incomplete and that he needs you to help finish it. Run to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell, but she will tell you that she can’t help. Now run over to the Dunbarton book store and talk to Aeira, she will tell you that she will order the book for you and that she will tell you when it comes in. You can now open your quest log to complete the mission. Wait around for a couple of hours for the owl to drop your next quest and then talk to Aeira again, she will tell you that the second book is in Ciar dungeon and will provide a red wing to teleport you there, as well as a note as an altar drop item. After you finish talking to her you will gain the keyword “Wizard’s note”.
With this dungeon you will play as your normal character, and friends can join in. I recommend that you ask someone to assist you because this Ciar dungeon can be a bit difficult for lower level players.
- 11. Translating the book
At the end of the special Ciar dungeon you will gain the book, you will need to run back to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell to have her to translate it for you. After you complete the quest you will need to wait a few hours in game time for Kristell to send you an owl with a new quest to come back and talk to her. She will then give you the translated book. If you want you can take the time to read through it. Now, run back to Tir Chonaill and talk to Duncan and give him the book. Duncan will tell you that there is a third part to the book, and the lazy old man will ask you to go and find it for him.
Now, run all the way back to Dunbarton again and talk with Aeira at the book store, she will tell you that it will take some time to gain the book. Complete the quest in your log and wait around for a few hours. When Aeira contacts you, return to her store and she will tell that Lassar has the book. Guess what? Yep, that’s right, more running!
Go back to Tir Chonaill and talk to Lassar at the magic school and she will tell that she no longer has the book. She gave it to Seamus. Seamus is located near Bangor at the dragon excavation site, you may have seen him digging down there. So run all the way to Dunbarton, then leave Dunbarton and head south to Bangor, you should see Seamus digging at the dragon site.
Seamus will tell you that he will give you the book, but only if you do a task for him first. He wants to give a gift to his son, but he can’t go back to town himself. He needs you to run to Bangor and give his gift to Sion, the little boy that is standing near Barri dungeon. After Sion has the gift return to seamus to gain the last and final book.
However, you’re not done just yet. The book needs translating, so return to Dunbarton and talk to Kristell and have her to translate the book for you. Now you will need to complete the quest in your log and wait for her to tell you when the book is finished. In the new update I noticed that the wait time isn’t as long, so don’t go too far.
After Kristell contacts you, talk to her again to receive the final translated book. You can now “Read the book in detail” to obtain the new key word “Glas Ghaibhleann”.
- 12. What is Glas Ghaibhleann?
Now that we have the translated book we need to figure out what this means. Return to Tir Chonaill and have Duncan read the finished book like he requested and use the keyword “Glas Ghaibhleann”. He will tell you about Glas and will give you the keyword “Destructive Glas Ghaibhleann”, and will ask you to run to Bangor and talk to the bank manager, Bryce. When you reach Bangor and talk to Bryce he will give you the keyword “Glas Ghaibhleann Bones”, and will tell you that Tarlach should have more information on the subject. Return to Tir Chonaill and make your way to human Tarlach, and ask him about Glas bones. He will tell you everything you need to know about it, and will ask you to get a few items for him. He will need some magic powder of preservation, which can only be found in Fiodh dungeon.
Gather some supplies, and gather some strong friends, because you will be heading over to Fiodh dungeon to gain the special magic powder. If you don’t know where Fiodh is, it is just south of Dunbarton, then take the road that leads towards Emain Macha from there. I believe there is a sign on the road that will point you in the right direction. After you complete the dungeon, you will gain the magic powder of preservation from the treasure chest. Return back to Tir Chonaill and give the magic powder to human Tarlach, he will then give you his glasses as an item in return.
These glasses are a special item that will trigger another RP quest.
- 13. Morrighan’s betrayal
Now you will need to make your way to Rabbie dungeon. In this RP quest you can take two of your friends along with you. You and your friends will play as Mari, Tarlach, and Ruairi. Mari is an archer, Tarlach a mage, and Ruairi a warrior. The dungeon is actually pretty easy. Don’t bother buying supplies for this dungeon because like all RP quest, you can’t take anything in or out with you. When you complete the dungeon you will gain the keyword “Morrighan’s betrayal”.
Return back to Tir Chonaill and talk to Duncan using the new keyword. All the town’s people have something to say about it, so feel free to talk to them and ask them questions, but the only one who has something important to say that will move the quest along is priest Meven. After you are done talking about Morrighan’s betrayal, you will need to log out of the game and log back in. This will trigger a new cut scene with Morrighan calling for help, and you will gain the keyword “Goddess request”.
- 14. Preparing for Tir Na Nog
Okay, you are almost done. At this point you are now about half way done with the G1 quest series, just a bit more to go!
You will need to return back to Duncan and talk to him using the “Goddess request” keyword, he will replace the keyword with a new one called “How to reach Tir Na Nog”. As said earlier, to make things easier we will call Tir Na Nog TNN for short (players in game call it TNN as well).
You will now need to head over to human Tarlach and talk to him about TNN, but he won’t tell you anything. Duncan will have a second quest for you but it takes several hours in game for the owl to drop it. If you choose to stay in town and wait for the quest drop, scroll down and read “Duncan’s call”.
But I believe that you can continue on with a second quest, and then come back to do his later. If you move on with Kristell’s quest, continue to read below.
Leave Tir and make your way to Dunbarton. Talk to Kristell at the church and ask her about how to reach TNN. This part here is very important, Kristell will only tell you if you are “strong enough”, which means that you need a nice strong title, such as: any of the bear slayer titles, the golem slayer, or the Ogre slayer title activated when you talk to her. and you also need to be at least level 25 or higher. There are other titles that will work too, but the ones named above are the easiest to obtain.
If you have the Succubus slayer title on she will ignore you.
Kristell will then give you a task so that she can make the special TNN pass for you. Kristell will need you to kill one black dire wolf, which are located in Dugald isle. If you aren’t strong enough to kill the monster you can have a friend assist you, but make sure that you set the party kills so that you can finish the monster off for the quest. Next you will need to hunt down a werewolf, they are in Fiodh and Coill dungeons, again these are quite hard so bring some help. And last but not least, you will need to kill an Ogre, they roam about in the Gairech hills. The Ogres in Barri dungeon won’t count for this quest, nor will the boss giant.
After you have the three monsters slain, return back to Kristell to gain your TNN dungeon pass, as well as a red wing to Barri. Don’t use them yet though, you’re not done!
- 15. Duncan’s call
Don’t forget that the old man Duncan called for you, so head on back to Tir Chonaill to see what he wants. If you chose to stay in Tir and wait for his call, make your way and talk to Duncan. He will hand you Mores’ Torque and will ask you to go to Math dungeon, which is located in the north east fields of Dunbarton. As you may have guessed the Torque is a RP item, and when you drop it on the altar you will replay the dungeon with Mores again, but this time the story is slightly different. After you finish the dungeon you will receive the keyword “Cichol”.
Return back to Tir Chonaill and talk to Duncan and ask him about Cichol, he will explain a bit more about the story. If you want you can also talk to Tarlach, but it is story related and doesn’t have anything to do with the quest, which means it is safe to skip.
If you talk to Tarlach he will tell you to go talk to Kristell to head over to TNN, but since we did the quest already we should have the pass in our bag. If you somehow lost the pass, just talk to Kristell again with one of the titles activated and ask her about How to reach Tir Na Nog.
- 16. Journey to Tir Na Nog
The TNN pass is made for a max of three people to enter the dungeon, if you want more to go you’ll have to form a second party with a second pass, and meet up at the end of the dungeon when you reach the other side. The portal that leads to Tir Na Nog only opens on Saturdays, so don’t waste the pass before then, otherwise when you reach the end of the dungeon the portal will be closed. This dungeon is actually pretty short, it is only one floor. The monsters in the dungeon are Goblins, Goblin archers, Poison Goblins, Black spiders, and Imps. The boss room has four wisps, and three flying swords. Instead of a treasure room you will come to the portal room at the end, don’t click on the Goddess statue and leave the dungeon, instead walk to the back room and go inside the portal door to the other world. Here you will gain the title “Seal breaker of another world”.
When you make it to the other side you will need to locate a man named Dougal, he is standing near the Chief’s house. You may have noticed by now that this town looks identical to Tir Chonaill. Think of this land as a mirror world. After the first time you talk to him you will need to wait a few hours in game time for him to send you an owl quest. Your mission will be to slay 10 zombies, located up in the graveyard. Zombies are very difficult to kill if you are at a low level. Zombies move slow, but have extremely high defense against arrows, magic, and melee attacks. The only thing that hurts them is Windmill and Smash, but be careful when you smash because the zombies can also counterattack. Using Counterattack on them works too, but since they move so slow it takes forever to wait for them to attack. After the 10 zombies are killed (again), return back to Dougal to complete the mission in your quest log.
- 17. Finding the black orb
Now you will need to break the seal to save the Goddess. All your hard work has finally helped you reach your goal. Just one more task stands in your way. You will need to talk to Dougal and buy the quest scroll to make a black orb, the problem is that this orb has been shattered into four pieces. You will need to complete four dungeons, one for each piece of the orb. The quest scroll will instruct you on what you need to do. The first task is collecting small colored gems from around town by hitting objects like lamp posts and signs. You will need a small green, blue, red, and silver gem for each dungeon. Drop the orb on the altar of Albey dungeon to start the mission. Albey is located in the same place as Alby dungeon from the normal world; the names are similar but not the same. Keep that in mind. This is also the only dungeon located inside of TNN.
A total of eight people can come along with you to do these dungeons, so if you came to TNN with a second team (like suggested earlier) you can now join up and work together. The difficulty level increases with each colored gem in the order described above, with green being the easiest dungeon. Even though Green is the easiest, I still find that dungeon to be quiet difficult for low level players.
I recommend you do them in order with a strong party. If you need to buy supplies talk to Dougal.
The boss for the Green dungeon is three heavy gargoyles, along with five light gargoyles.
The Blue dungeon boss is three lycanthropes.
The Red dungeon has a Nightmare humanoid.
The final Silver dungeon has one dark green golem, and six metal skeletons.
The treasure rooms at the end of each dungeon will have the black orb piece you need, just keep hitting on the black stalk looking thing until it drops. In case a team member takes the orb piece, they can trade it back to you so that you can complete the black orb. After you gain all four pieces open your quest log and complete the mission. You will now have the finished black orb.
- 18. Saving the Goddess
The black orb dungeon has a three person limit, so all your extra friends that came along won’t be able to go with you. I recommend you take your strongest pals with you to help. I should also mention that Dark knight and Paladin transformation abilities will be disabled, but all other transformations can still be used, such as the Awakening of light. As soon as you are ready drop the black orb on the dungeon alter. This dungeon is extremely hard, a lot harder than the last four colored dungeons you just did earlier. The dungeon is two floors long and has several rooms per floor; the entire dungeon is quite long. You will face several light gargoyles, snakes, metal skeletons, and werewolves just to name a few. The boss room consists of six ghost armor monsters. At the end of the dungeon it will automatically trigger a cut scene and then force you outside the dungeon, and you will gain the keyword “Glas Ghaibhleann’s rebirth”.
Make your way to Dougal and talk to him about Glas’ rebirth. You should have a Goddess pendant item that you gained from earlier, it is a quest item. Dougal will take the pendant and will alter the pendant into a dungeon drop item, and will also give you a special red goddess wing that will take you to TNN Albey dungeon. Make your way back to Albey and drop the Goddess pendant on the altar.
- 19. The Final dungeon
This dungeon is horrible and very long, so make sure your friends are strong enough to back you up. A couple of players that are over level 1000+ can kill Glas within a couple of hits. If you don’t have players over level 900, well then you will just need some good tactics to get through the dungeon. This dungeon has six very long floors, and no goddess statues. So if you die, only your friends can save you with phoenix feathers, so makes sure to bring extra healing supplies. At the end of every floor you will have to fight a boss, so in total there are six bosses in this dungeon.
The first floor boss is three Hellhounds, just like the ones in Math dungeon.
The second floor boss is one Lycanthrope.
The third floor boss is one Heavy gargoyle.
The fourth floor boss is six ghost armor monsters.
The fifth floor boss is one black wizard and six wisps.
The final sixth floor boss is the Dark lord as well as two ghost armor monsters.
At the end of the dungeon you will find a treasure room that has a special dungeon Goddess pass as a reward item. This pass will be used to teleport you back to the final boss Glas in case you die.
- 20. Facing Glas Ghaibhleann
The final boss is even worse than the dungeon, and many players will admit he is one of the hardest boss monsters in the game, especially for new players. So here are a few tips for how to defeat Glas:
If you attack Glas he will summon some Light gargoyles to assist him, which aggravate very easily and have a very large detection radius.
If you kill a Light gargoyle it will drop fire wood and a seal scroll, but only one monster will drop the scroll at a time. These scrolls can be burned in a camp fire to give players a super buff that will increase your fighting injury rate by 100% for sixty seconds, as well as reducing all damage received so that all attacks only takes 1 damage from you.
In other words: you get really strong and take a lot of life from your enemies, but the monsters can’t hurt you. Collect several of these scrolls and trade them to your team so that all of you can be strong enough to survive the fight.
Glas can recover his life at an extremely fast rate, so the best way to kill him is to wound him to stop his recover rate. In other words, use skills like magnum shot to slowly, and permanently cut his life down.
Some players suggest using pets to attack Glas to force him to summon more gargoyles for you so that you can collect enough scrolls.
After Glas is defeated you will gain the title “Who saved the Goddess”, as well as the keyword “Knight of light”, which is used to trigger Generation 2 quest series, and finally a special Goddess enchant item that has epic stats on it. Now all you have to do is watch the cut scenes and credits. If you choose to skip the cut scenes you can watch them again in the Dunbarton library.
