There are two kinds of marketing out there in our world today. One is interruption based marketing, and another is convinced based marketing. Interruption based marketing are TV commercials and radio ads. Convinced based marketing is popping up on search results when someone looks up your product or service. With 412 billion being spent on marketing according to the Small Business Administration, and 83% of that going toward interruption based marketing many business owners are offend spending the money in the wrong places. With my small business, I have found out from experience the right way and the very wrong way of marketing.
Why Interruption Based Marketing Is Bad
Since the time the TV was invented it wasn’t soon behind that TV ad’s came out. When the radio was invented so was the radio ads. Do you see where this is going? Businesses have been marketing with these types of ads for years and years. As ads came so went the customer’s attention span, we have as a society been trying to avoid or skip these ads for years. When the radio ad’s hit the scene we hit our presets to avoid hearing them. When TV ads came about so did the remote. According to an e-book from aura links Inc. 86% of people skip TV and Radio Ad’s . Let’s put that into preservative 100 people watching their favorite TV show then your ad comes on, 86 of those people immediately flip the channel leaving 14 still left watching your ads. Why did the people just skip your ad? They don’t like to be interrupted!
Of the billions spent on this type of marketing the only true benefit is to large companies who can make a profit with such a small turnover rate. Small Business owners need a large turnover rate to pay off the amount owed for TV and Radio Ad’s. This marketing is not for small business you don’t want your customers running form you, you want them running toward you this is why convinced based marketing is and will be the future.
Convinced Based Marketing Helping Make Your Business Profitable
Convinced based marketing is coming up on a yahoo or some other search engine when your customer is looking for your product or service. When “Mike” wants pizza at 10pm he’s not going to look your number up in the yellow pages he’s going to Google or Yahoo it. Don’t think so? Five years from now when a little kid walks up to you and asks, “What are the yellow pages?” you can respond, “It was a book that was made into a website.” The day of the yellow pages are gone so it’s time for small business owners to get on board and get online. If “Mike” is going to order his pizza he is going to search “Pizza” online and find the number of the place which generally 53% of people click on the first result in a search according to Aura Link Inc. So being the savvy business owner that you are, you want to be first on that list and hence “most convenient “.
Take a moment to think about it, would you rather have to knock on someone door, or have them knock on your door? Same idea as would u rather has them running away from you or toward you? Small business owners need to be worried about being there when the customer needs them. Maybe somewhere downtown there is the smell of pizza in a certain spot, well why not have your business name and number be the first thing that person see’s when they smell that pizza, that’s how you be convenient. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is key in today’s business world, company’s such Aura Links Inc are what your small businesses need, you need to be at the right place when your customer wants you. Don’t interrupt them with your pizza after they just ate a 5 course meal!
These are the basic ideas I use when running my small business. Being convenient is key, when selling yourself or business to your potential customer. Small business’s who become smarter and adapt to our ever changing society will be the ones who survive. Do not try and learn from your own personal experience, learn from my experience and market your business down the right path!
