Are you in the process of planning a mermaid themed party for your daughter? Have you been racking your brain in an attempt to come up with a handful of mermaid themed games and activities? If so, you may want to sneak a peek at a few of my mermaid themed party suggestions. Here they are:
Mermaid Dress-Up Station
It is no secret that most little girls love to play dress-up. Therefore, why not set up a mermaid play station that includes face paints, body glitter, pearl jewelry, clam shell tiaras and other mermaid accoutrements? That way, your guests can spend some time at the party dressing up and pretending to be mermaids.
Mermaid Clamshell Purse
Crafts make great party activities too. As such, you may want to think about letting your little mermaids make clamshell purses. In order to make them, you’ll need to invest in straw bags, seashells and craft glue. If you don’t like the idea of making clamshell purses, there are other beach crafts available. For instance, you could let the kids make seashell charm bracelets, pearl necklaces or seashell wind chimes. There are many different party supply companies that sell the kits needed to make those items. Prices for the kits will vary.
Would you rather let the kids make something that doesn’t require a lot of crafting skills? If so, consider busting out the colored sand, funnels and bottles. The kids could use them to make sand art. Don’t have colored sand and bottles at home? They can often be purchased through major craft stores and specialty shops for a reasonable fee. You could also forgo buying the bottles and cover sheets of craft paper with white glue instead. Afterward, let the kids sprinkle the colored sand with their hands onto the glue. When it dries, they’ll have a one of a kind picture worthy of a mermaid themed frame.
Diving for Treasure/Seashell Hunt
As far as games go, you may want to think about setting up a diving for treasure or seashell hunt game. If the party is outdoors, you could drop faux pearl necklaces, gold pirate coins and other items into a pool for the kids to find. If the party is indoors, you could always bury the items inside a large container of sand, wild rice or glass marbles instead.
Pop the Bubble
Another mermaid themed game to consider utilizing is pop the bubble. Simply give the kids a bunch of pearlescent colored balloons. Then turn on some mermaid themed music and let the kids try and pop the balloons by sitting on them. You could hand out a prize to the child that pops the most balloons in the shortest amount of time or forgo handing out prizes altogether. Other variations to the game include letting the kids pop the balloons with darts or their knees.
