It’s a new season of “The Bachelor” and we know what that means. Yet another cast of women perpetuating the old story that all women are desperate to get hitched. Luckily, “The Bachelorette” series makes the franchise an equal opportunity offender. Each season a new horde of women trot themselves out in hopes of getting a rose at bare minimum and a ring if the situation turns up to max.
We understand. We’ve been there.
Sean Lowe is “The Bachelor” for Season 17. The 29-year-old Texan used to sell insurance. Show the man some compassion as he also had his heart snapped in two by Emily Maynard on last summer’s “Bachelorette.” He made it all the way to the final three before his curtain call. Sean wants a wife, children and the “All American lifestyle.” Luckily for him there are 26 women vying for his attention.
Arie Luyendyk, the runner up from the Emily season, also made an appearance on the episode. Arie gives Sean kissing pointers. This is only slightly awkward if one considers the fact that they both know what it’s like to be kissed by and broken up with by Emily. Arie and Sean make quite the comic duo.
“Pick me. Choose me. Love me.”
When it was time for Sean to meet his potential girlfriends, he seemed to be playing nervous more than actually feeling on edge. Who can blame the guy? After so many seasons of the show everyone knows exactly what to expect.
The contestants didn’t disappoint. They were a mix of homespun beauty, fun and hi-jinks, pageant teeth and a heaping mix of crazy sprinkled on top.
So who of this season’s class seemed Most Likely to Be Insane?
No season of “The Bachelor” is complete without an Ashley or two in the mix. Ashley Palenkas hails from Macomb, Michigan. She says that she enjoys “going out with [her] best friends and their fiances/husbands.” She apparently is also an avid reader as she told Sean that she was all about the erotic series “50 Shades of Grey” and pulled a tie out of her bosom. Ladies, please file under how not to make a first impression.
Robyn is rare for the series simply because she’s African American. The beauty from Texas chose to stand out another way, however. She thought that exiting the limo and going into cartwheels would make her more endearing, or something. Alas, Ms. Howard was no Gabby Douglas. Her tumbles crashed and burned.
Lindsay Yenter wears an actual wedding dress to meet her future man. No, really. This is a surefire way to send any guy screaming into the night. Unfortunately, Sean was required to grin and bear it. She appropriately calls herself “the party starter.” She’s starting something alright!
We can’t wait to see what happens next. “The Bachelor” airs on ABC. Check your local listings for exact times.
