Christmas is around the corner and as a Dallas Cowboys fan I have 10 things I would wish for as gifts for fans and our team:
It’s a Family Affair:
I admire Head coach Jason Garrett because he is part of a family deeply involved with the Dallas Cowboys. His Dad was a coach; Jason was a quarterback and has climbed the ranks within the team. I will continue to root for Jason Garrett and hope he stays with the Cowboys forever. (Or at least as long as Tom Landry did.)
Let’s Cap it Off:
Speaking of Tom Landry, it would be great if Jason Garrett could give a nod to him. Maybe he could change his cap for Tom’s hat for the rest of the season.
A Time Machine for the Offense:
Wouldn’t it be great to bring back Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Jay Novacek and other greats from the past. Bring them from the past when they are at their peak to the present and we would have the greatest team there ever was. Now that would be a great Christmas gift for fans.
And the Defense as well:
I also wish we could bring back Defensive Hall of Fame members Randy White and Bob Lilly as well as others. Nothing would be better than watching Ed “To Tall” Jones stuff a pass down a quarterback’s throat again.
No Time Warp, Dang it:
Since we can’t use a time warp, I would wish for an offensive line built like a brick wall on top of their game. It would be amazing if there were no hurry-ups, knockdowns, turnovers or quarterback sacks for the rest of the year. On the other hand, our defensive players would find so many gaps in coverage the opposing quarterback spends more times on his back than on his feet. Of course, their quarterback is swaddled in extra padding and never gets seriously hurt.
Science and Football:
The bionic leg: It would be great to find a kicker who could kick a field goal from anywhere. How about 120 yard field goal? Any time the Cowboys get to the fourth down, our bionic kicker comes on and scores a field goal. Let’s see the Washington Redskins top that!
Let us get real for a minute. I would really enjoy a Christmas gift of:
My Christmas wish is that Felix Jones, DeMarco Murray, Kevin Ogletree and all the other players healthy. It would be cool to not have an “Injured Reserve” list ever again.
A perfect game:
Just once, it would be cool to see a perfect game with no flags thrown. It would be the ultimate game to see no errors and the refs doing little more than watching the clock and spotting the ball perfectly. Alas, the NFL is full of humans and humans make mistakes thus the refs are kept busy keeping everyone in line and on task.
For Christmas this year, I want a winning season and the hope of going on to the Super Bowl with outstanding stats in the playoffs. When Dallas is in the Super Bowl, it is an ultimate gift for Dallas Cowboy fans.
So that is my Christmas gift wish list for me and all of the fans of the Dallas Cowboys. I think the team would enjoy these gifts as much as we would. One thing is for sure, the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants would sure have their hands full on game day.
