My Life After.
It was 10:00am when I woke up. I woke to the beautiful sun beaming through my windows. I remember the weather man saying that it was going to be a beautiful day today, so I had high hopes today. I made my way down to the breakfast table in the kitchen were granny May was preparing breakfast. The smell of bacon, eggs, toast, and cheese grits filled the kitchen.
”Good morning dear” She said.
I ran up to her and gave her a big hug and wished her a good morning back. Her face turned cherry red. I always had the effect on her. She was always a happy cheerful person. I loved her so such. She fixed two plates and sat them on the table. I was confused for a second.
”Where’s Pa” I asked
”He’s out on the farm working; you should go join him after your breakfast. He needs you to go into town and run a few errands for him.”
I turned my head and rolled my eyes. I hated going into town because it was such a long walk, but it was for Pa so I didn’t mind. I gazed at the clock it was 11:30 I thought to myself I should go into town now. I hopped on my bike and started on my way into town. On the way to town I looked out in the distance I saw dark clouds. Cloud I couldn’t even described they looked so evil. I knew that I storm was on the way. I had to hurry a finish the errands for Pa so I could hurry back home before the storm came.
I rushed back home. The wind was blowing hard, so I knew that I wouldn’t be helping Pa tending to the farm. I rushed in the house looking for my grandparents. Their eyes were glued on the television. I over heard the weather man saying that a tornado had touched down in town. Good thing I left I said to myself. The weather man said that it was a F1. It wasn’t that major so we didn’t worry to much.
I looked at the clock again. It read 1:30. We quietly sat in front of the TV still watching the weather man. He said that it went from a F1 to a F5 and is heading South. I looked at my grandparents.
”South? That’s in our direction”
” We know” they said in a quiet voice
The power knocked out and we were sitting in total silence. The howl of the wind grew strong. I slowly walked over to the window and I saw the big black twister heading our way. It was coming fast. I warned my grandparents that we need to seek shelter. We rushed outside quickly as possible. We struggled trying to open it; it wouldn’t budge for nothing, so we had to rush back in the house. I stood there crying. Grandma wrapped her arms around me to comfort me. So we had to come up with something. They told me softly
” Go upstairs grab a couple of blankets out the closet and crouch down and cover yourself. We’ll be up there soon”
I did as they said. I rushed upstairs quickly as possible and did as they said. As I sat up there waiting on my family, I began to cry. I thought what if I lose my family, what would happen to me? Then all of a sudden the house began to shake and rumble. I heard glass shatter. All I could do is scream and cry. Then everything went black, I fainted. I eventually woke up thinking to myself it’s a miracle that I’m alive.
I stood up and I slowly walked down stairs calling for my grandparents. As I got to the bottom my mouth dropped in shock. Half the house was ripped off its foundation. I ran outside trying to find my family. No sight of them. I slowly turn back around and walked back in the house. I happen to look down and I saw my grannies apron and my Pa’s Hat. I fell to my knees and started to cry and scream. Wishing it had been me.
