Natural Ways to Prevent Acne

by pop tug

Having suffered from acne for many years and trying many acne creams I became frustrated with the lack of results I was getting. I wanted to come up with some natural ways to prevent acne that would also give me better results than I was getting from acne products. Acne affects millions of people every year and I hope that these simple natural cures for acne help you as they did me.

Apply warm honey to your skin

Honey is one of the great things for keeping your skin healthy, because it has many anti-oxidants in it as well as a lot of vitamin E. The Vitamin E in honey will help to keep your skin smooth as well as maintain a healthy glow and allow it to heal quicker. Any natural honey will work, but you should try to purchase a honey that is not very thick so that it can spread easily on the skin. Combine a cup of warm water and a cup of warm honey into a bowl and stir until you have a fine paste. Apply the honey to your skin and wait five to ten minutes, removing the honey from your skin slowly using a warm washcloth. The slight stickiness of the honey will help to bring the dirt out of your pours, preventing the buildup of dirt that causes acne.

Wash your hair with green tea

Washing your hair with green tea not only prevents sweat buildup in your hair, but it also prevents dirt buildup, which contacts with your skin when you sweat. I used to have bad acne on my forehead even after washing it two times a day with shampoo, but after I started using green tea along with my shampoo the acne I had in that area as well as on my face began to disappear. Green tea has also been show in recent years to help promote healthy hair grow and overall health of the scalp. Apply a cups worth of green tea to your hair along with your favorite shampoo twice a day, raising well to clear out the dirt buildup.

Use a dark chocolate scrub

Eating dark chocolate helps to promote skin health and digestive health due to its anti-oxidants, but I found that it also helped prevent and even rid me of my acne when applied directly to the skin. To do this simply put some dark chocolate into a bowl and slowly melt it, adding about a half a cup of water and mixing. Apply it directly to all affected areas of your skin and allow it to dry for ten to fifteen minutes before slowly removing it with a warm washcloth. After doing this for a month I noticed that my skin felt smoother and cleaner and my acne breakouts were far less than they had been before.

Cut out greasy foods and drink water

I can’t begin to tell you how much of a difference drinking lots of water made on my acne. Drinking water is important, because it allows you to sweat properly and helps to clear your pours of dirt which could cause acne. You also have to cut out fat heavy foods as well as greasy foods as their qualities also mix with your sweat. If you have a diet that is high in fat and contains greasy foods, then your sweat will contain those same qualities and as a result your sweat itself will not be as clean. The healthier your diet, the better and more efficiently you sweat and the cleaner your sweat will be. Fat heavy foods tend to have a lot of impurities which also effect the overall health of your skin.
