The Altador Cup Staff Tournament Prize Shop opening was just as anticipate as the regular prize shop; although there were no leaks of what the prizes would be most people assumed that it would be similar to what was made available last year. The Altador Cup was shorter this year and there were only three rounds for the Staff Tournament; sadly my first round picks weren’t that great and I ended up with 10,743 points. Well, at least that is what the original number was. When the prize shop opened I was given this message:
“Thanks to your roster management skills, you have 8105 points to spend at the prize shop.”
That a +2K difference. But if you game at Neopets you know that glitches are common; if you have not checked your Staff Tournament prize points yet and the number is different (more or less) you are going to have to wait for it to be fixed. A few years ago there was a glitch with the regular prize shop and people were given hundreds of thousands of points more than they should have; when they abused the glitch and purchased the high ticket items their accounts were frozen. Better to wait it out than to risk your account.
This is my second year making All-Star ranking and I am hoping (if I did the math correctly) that the almost 20K in prize shop points I earned will be used to make a huge profit in the coming year. Even though most of the concentration is going to be on the regular prize shop, you shouldn’t overlook the Staff Tournament items because some of those could turn out to be big seller next year. I have been gaming at Neopets for over eight years and consider myself a Class A hoarder; even so, it is almost impossible to predict what is going to skyrocket and what is going to be selling for next to nothing – even more so when it comes to items that are going to be bought and sold in the thousands.
“Leftover Fruit Plates”: 1 Point
“Altador Cup Cake”: 100 Points
“Yooyuball Blindfold”: 250 Points
“Still Packaged Referee Action Figure”: 400 Points
“How To Code For Artists”: 1,000 Points
“Leftover Fridge Food”: 3,500 Points
“Streamers Garland”: 7,000 Points
‘Singed Trousers”: 7,000 Points
“Altador Tips From The Neopets Team”: 11,000 Points
“I Surrender Flag”: 15,000 Points
What am I going to spend my points on? Last year I bought a lot of the “Box of Leftover Muffins” (with over 18K of them in my SDB) but it is a tedious task to click on the purchase and confirm button over and over. I do intend on getting a ton of the “Altador Cup Cakes”, they make a nice companion for the “Altador Cup Cupcake” from last year’s prize shop. The book, “How To Code For Artists” is going to be a nice investment it is indeed ‘readable’ and stays that way. You never know when they are going to switch the classification of something. Since the tournament was shorter this year people are going to have fewer points to spend so you are going to have to wait and see what the pricing trends are on the higher ticket items.
Overall I was impressed with the point variety but wish that there were more lower point things to pick from; last year I ended up with over 55K in staff points so only getting a fraction of that this year is a blow. On the good side, the price on the book is only 1K, last year they were a lot more than that. If you are planning on hoarding items, wait until more people start redeeming their points. The first few days see a lot of different prices so wait it out and start sniping when you see the prices start to stabilize.
