Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the New England Patriots’ key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.
Tom Brady, QB
Brady finished Week 8 earning 28.46 fantasy points in a blowout win over the St. Louis Rams. This week he faces a Buffalo Bills’ defense that has given up an average of 21.50 fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Brady has a fantastic matchup this week coming off a bye that should see him well rested and ready to do damage. Look for at least 21.00 fantasy points on the week.
Stevan Ridley, RB
Ridley finished the week earning 18.70 fantasy points against the Rams. This week he faces a Bills’ defense that has allowed an average of 27.31 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. The Buffalo defense is a mess and Ridley has proven he can get the job done on the ground. Look for at least 12.00 fantasy points on the week provided he finds the end zone.
Wes Welker, WR
Welker finished the week earning just 4.80 fantasy points against St. Louis. This week he faces a Buffalo defense that has given up an average of 27.94 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season. Welker has had a couple of tough games but should see the ability to return to old form this week against a bad Bills’ defense. Look for around 9.00 fantasy points this week.
Brandon Lloyd, WR
Lloyd had a great game earning 14.80 fantasy points against the Rams. This week he shares the great matchup against the Bills with his fellow receivers. Lloyd has been somewhat inconsistent this season but has a great matchup against Buffalo that should give his owners plenty of confidence. Expect around 8.00 fantasy points this week.
Rob Gronkowski, TE
Gronkowski had a huge game earning 26.60 fantasy points against St. Louis. This week he faces a Buffalo defense that has allowed an average of just 6.94 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. With Gronkowski on the field it is safe to throw any opposing averages out the window. They simply do not apply to him. Expect at least 11.00 fantasy points on the week.
Aaron Hernandez, TE
Hernandez did not make the trip to London to face the Rams on October 28 nor did he appear at the team’s only practice on Thursday. He is expected to suit up for Sunday’s matchup against Buffalo but at this point it is wait-and-see. Look for around 8.00 fantasy points if he does participate this week.
